• The UNI Panthers men’s basketball team (6-3 overall) will meet the Iowa Hawkeyes (8-2 overall) in the inaugural Hy-Vee Big Four Classic. The Panthers and Hawkeyes will tip at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa, at the Wells Fargo Arena.
• UNI and Iowa will be meeting for the 25th straight season. In the last 12 meetings between the two teams, each squad has won six games.
• Each squad will enter Saturday’s game riding three-game win streaks.
• Senior guard Marc Sonnen has made at least one 3-pointer in 19 straight games – a stretch that dates back to the 2011-12 season. Sonnen finished the 2011-12 season by making at least one 3-pointer in the final 10 games. He has made a 3-pointer in all nine of UNI’s games this season.
• Sonnen buried seven 3-pointers and tied his career-high with 21 points in UNI’s 82-77 overtime win at George Mason.
• Senior guard Anthony James is closing in on becoming the Panthers’ next 1,000-point career scorer. James has tallied 937 points heading into Saturday’s game vs. Iowa.
• Senior forwards Jake Koch has tallied 826 points and 500 rebounds in his Panther career. Koch is one of 23 players all-time at UNI to reach both the 500-point and 500-rebound marks.
