NIACC signs middle hitter from South Dakota

Sydney Tschetter

MASON CITY – Sydney Tschetter, a 6-foot-1 middle hitter from Wolsey, S.D., signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at NIACC next fall.

Tschetter, a second-team all-conference selection, led Wolsey-Wessington with 172 kills this past season. She was 162 of 189 serving with 34 aces. She also had 198 digs and 97 blocks during her senior season.

“Well, I am nervous, scared and excited all at the same time,” Tschetter said. “I know it will be way different from high school but everything about college is.

“I have talked with many of the girls from the team and they say it is harder but coach (Brandt) always knows when enough is enough and isn’t out there just to try and kill you.”

Brandt said she’s looking forward to having Tschetter as a member of the Lady Trojans in the fall.

“She adds a lot of passion to the court,” the coach said, “and we are ready to help her take her game to the next level.”

Wolsey-Wessington coach Jeannie Rainford called the newest NIACC recruit a “hard-working, talented volleyball player.”

“I will forever be impressed not only by the dedication she has shown but also by the love of the game that she has,” Rainford said. “I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to coach such a gifted athlete and am proud of all her accomplishments.”
