Wanted man, fresh out of jail a week ago, flees cops as they search for burglary suspects

MCPD spotlighting, searching for suspects, in the NE area around 17th Street NE

MASON CITY – At approximately 4:45 AM Saturday morning, Mason City Police officers responded to a burglary call from 739 17th Street NE.

The caller said that a boyfriend had broken into her car.  About 7 police officers with at least four squad cars were on the scene searching for two suspects, driving around the neighborhood with bright spotlights.

Police located one man, Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, and ordered him to stop for questioning.  Wilmarth refused and fled. Officers were unable to apprehend him.  Police denied that they had him in custody before he found an opportunity to flee.

Wilmarth is wanted at this time.  His picture is posted below from an arrest earlier in December for possession of stolen property, a felony offense.  He posted a $200.00 cash bond on December 3rd, 2012 and walked out of the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Wilmarth is a convicted felon who has served time in prison.  He has been convicted of numerous crimes including assault causing bodily injury just this year, while at the same time has had numerous charges dismissed by a handful of judges including Judge Carlynn Grupp who threw out an operating while intoxicated charge in 2010.

If you see Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, please call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, not charged in connection with this burglary incident but wanted by police.

“Why would a judge throw out an OWI?”

Maybe he had a good defense lawyer? Or are we not allowed to defend ourselves in courts of law any more?

Darned Constitution anyway! Get rid of it and life will be better off right?

Caption under photo should read suspect flees from police as they search for suspect. Pretty sure he didn’t go one street south. Not again
Do they even know why they want this guy?

Maybe people will start waking up to what happens to a community when there are no good jobs. 8 years of George Bush hurt this country and it will take alot longer then 4 years to turn it around.

They are hiring at Winnebago, Serta, and multiple other companies locally. Not working is not an excuse to commit felonies. Like this POS would work for a living, he just needs to be shot.

This city is changing from a working class community to an Obama care, title 19 slum with trash from all the big city slums. And our wonderful city leaders are too involved with their aren’t we great projects to see this.

Not to mention Micheal Young was at it again lastnight. I heard on the scanner that he was threatning to “kill someone tonight” while standing on someones porch on N. Washington. I wonder why thats not on the MCPD incident reports.

And they let another one go to have to look for him again. Do these idiots do this to keep themselves busy?
Is someone making money doing this crap? Or is it just stupidity?

Yes bail bonds man are making money, they give them 10 percent, the bail bondman signs sayoing they will appear, They get busted for a new crime and the bail bondman keeps their original 10 percent.

at this point you have to believe that a lot of the lack of proper sentencing and making sure criminals aren’t at least in jail long enough to pay off fines is meant to drive homeowners out of town to rush in more business who look at mason city as baron land waiting to be filled with crap and create deeper pockets for those in control of mason city.

I wish I knew exactly what you were trying to say.

LOL, he wants marijuana legalized, I bet.

When are these worthless judges and county attorney going to quit giving these criminals breaks? The citizens and tax payers are footing the bill for all of this.

Why would a judge throw out an OWI? I would say this is unbelievable, but I’m used to seeing how poorly the judicial staff in this county administers the law. Mason City is a haven for scumbags. It really is a rough town. It’s funny how the city is touting the Blue Zone project. That seems to be very contradictory with all of the crime present here. It’s hard to live a healthy life when residents have to be on guard for their person and property.

That’s what liberal judges do, when are you Iowans gonna get that through your single minded heads?!?! Nice bunch a white kids your raising up there in Mason City……..NOT!

t,s time to wake up people ! Joker has come to take over gothem city. Throw out the judicial system and bring in batman. Otherwise make me sherriff and I’ll round up the possee. I hate stupid people. I see stupid people everywhere. Unbelievable.

In addition to the theft he was also charged with burglary. That wonderful business 1st Call Bail Bonds holds his bond, they are an asset to our community.

What does the bail bond company have to do with this guy!! So then the cab driver that drives him awayis at fault?? How about the station who selld him gas?? The Bond bailer had nothing to do with the criminal except to bail out those who can do so.. Lets blame then criminals for what they do…

Are you perhaps suggesting that we no longer allow bond to people accused of crimes? Should we also throw out trials, legal defences, and all the other guarantees our Constitution provide?

Yeah, who needs that darned Constitution, it only gets in the way!

You voted for Obama didn’t you.

They should let cops shoot Suspects that flees from cops after they tell him stop. Let cops make the call and pass law saying suspects cant sue. Scum has to many rights, time to rain them in.

If being scared and dumb was punishable by gunshot wound, 1/2 this city would have bled to death by now.

Including pee-wee
