MASON CITY – At approximately 4:45 AM Saturday morning, Mason City Police officers responded to a burglary call from 739 17th Street NE.

The caller said that a boyfriend had broken into her car.  About 7 police officers with at least four squad cars were on the scene searching for two suspects, driving around the neighborhood with bright spotlights.

Police located one man, Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, and ordered him to stop for questioning.  Wilmarth refused and fled. Officers were unable to apprehend him.  Police denied that they had him in custody before he found an opportunity to flee.

Wilmarth is wanted at this time.  His picture is posted below from an arrest earlier in December for possession of stolen property, a felony offense.  He posted a $200.00 cash bond on December 3rd, 2012 and walked out of the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Wilmarth is a convicted felon who has served time in prison.  He has been convicted of numerous crimes including assault causing bodily injury just this year, while at the same time has had numerous charges dismissed by a handful of judges including Judge Carlynn Grupp who threw out an operating while intoxicated charge in 2010.

If you see Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, please call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

Nicholas Jon Wilmarth, not charged in connection with this burglary incident but wanted by police.
