CEDAR RAPIDS – The NIACC men’s basketball team opens Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play Friday at Kirkwood Community College.
Game time is set for 7 p.m.
No. 3 NIACC (9-2 overall) is coming off a 89-87 loss to Rochester Community and Technical College on Tuesday. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for the Trojans.
Sophomore Chris Davis (Colorado Springs, Col.) averages 21.4 points per game to lead the Trojans. Freshman David Humphries (Adelaide, Australia) averages 19.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
Kirkwood (6-5 overall) is also playing in its league opener. The Eagles dropped a 95-88 decision to Indian Hills on Tuesday.
Kirkwood’s other four losses came at the hands of Indian Hills (94-89 on Nov. 3), John Wood (70-56 on Nov. 6), Marshalltown (73-70 on Nov. 9) and Marshalltown (71-57 on Nov. 28).
Kirkwood is led by sophomore Devan Douglas, who averages 11.8 points per game. Najeal Young scores 11.7 points per game and Gage Heffernan scores 10.0 points a contest.
