(Mason City) – The Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health is celebrating National Home Care Month.
The Health Department has been providing home care services to residents of Cerro Gordo County since 1990. Our trained home care aides can provide personal services such as bathing, skin and foot care. We offer light housekeeping, laundry and grocery shopping services to keep our clients where they feel most comfortable, at home. Our public health nurses can provide skilled home care for individuals who have an illness or have been recently hospitalized.
In honor of National Home Care Month, the Health Department has developed a new television commercial in partnership with FOX 47 and has featured it on their website, www.cghealth.com. “The Health Department is excited to visually highlight our home care services through our new commercial,” said Nola Aigner, Public Information Officer. “We invite residents of Cerro Gordo County to visit our website and view the commercial.”
The health department will be giving out free combination carbon monoxide and smoke detectors to those who view our new home care commercial and complete a quick survey on our website (www.cghealth.com). When filling out the survey, please be sure to include a written comment, name, telephone number and email address to be included in the drawing. The department will be randomly selecting 20 survey participants to receive a detector. The deadline to fill out the survey is Monday, December 3, 2012.
Carbon monoxide detectors are a lifesaving tool especially this time of year. As we start turning our furnaces on, our risk of carbon monoxide poisoning increases. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas. Symptoms can include headaches, nausea and drowsiness. High levels of the gas can be fatal.
