MASON CITY – Brent Willett of the North Iowa Corridor described the economic development that is taking place in Mason City and the surrounding area when he gave a quarterly report to the Mason City Council Tuesday evening.
Willett said that 4 project “closures” or deals that were brokered and finalized in the third quarter were 1) Metalcraft and the construction of its new location on 9th Street SW, 2) Assa Abloy (Graham) and its expansion on 12th Street SE, 3) Pigskin Farms (in Clear Lake) and the construction of a recreation facility there, and 4) the retention of Orange Tree Employment Services which stayed in North Iowa and moved from Clear Lake to downtown Mason City.
Willett said that 29 project leads were pursued in the third quarter and advanced 15 projects into active project status. Currently, he said that the North Iowa Corridor is currently working 23 active projects.
Among other methods of promoting the region, Willett said that the Corridor is placing an ad in the Delta Sky magazine which cliams to reach 5.1 million readers every month.
