NIACC’s Yao places 10th at national half marathon

LEVELLAND, Texas – NIACC sophomore Sapolai Yao placed 10th at the NJCAA men’s half marathon Saturday in a time of 1 hours, 12 minutes and 37.71 seconds.

Yao, who is from Papua New Guinea, helped lead NIACC to a seventh-place team finish. Iowa Central won the team title and the Tritons’ Stanley Kebenei was the individual champion in 1:07.01.87.

Also for NIACC, sophomore Trent Smith (Charles City, Iowa) was 23rd in 1”15.17.24, sophomore Jonny Worley (Greene, Iowa) was 37th I 1:17.12.85 and freshman Mason Powers (Gilbert, Iowa) was 56th in 1:20.39.35.
