IOWA CITY — Iowa rallied from a 23-point first-half deficit to beat Gardner-Webb 65-56 tonight at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The Hawkeyes (4-0) trailed 38-15 with 1.5 seconds left in the first half before Josh Oglesby was fouled attempting a 3-pointer. Oglesby hit all three free throws to send Iowa into the locker room down 20.
With renewed energy, Iowa stormed back in the second half to tie the game at 42-42.
Josh Oglesby hit three 3-pointers in the second half to lead all scorers with 13 points. Adam Woodbury connected on 5-of-6 shots in the paint for 12 points. Aaron White and Devyn Marble each had 11.
After sinking just 5-of-25 shots in the first half, Iowa hit 14 of 27 in the second.
