A woman who conspired to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine was sentenced October 4, 2012, to more than three years in federal prison.
Jody Head, 36, from Stratford, Iowa, received the prison term after a May 22, 2012, guilty plea to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute methamphetamine.
At the guilty plea, Head admitted that, from about 2010 through November 1, 2011, she conspired to manufacture and distribute 50 grams or more of actual (pure) methamphetamine. Head admitted to her involvement with one or more others in the manufacture of methamphetamine at a residence located within 1000 feet of the property comprising a public playground or school, that is, Stanhope City Park, Stanhope, Hamilton County, Iowa. Head also admitted that pursuant to pseudoephedrine purchase logs, from August, 2009 through August, 2011, she acquired (by purchase or other means) at least 62 grams of pseudoephedrine for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Head was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Head was sentenced to 40 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed. She must also serve an eight-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Head is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until she can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Ellsworth-Jewell-Stanhope (EJS) Police Department, the Central Iowa Drug Task Force (Story and Boone County), and Division of Criminal Investigation.
