Iowa Man Sentenced To More Than Five Years On Child Pornography Charge

A man who downloaded child pornography was sentenced October 3, 2012, to five and a half years in federal prison.

Daniel Lindgren, age 25, of Schaller, Iowa, received the sentence after a June 21, 2012, guilty plea to one count of receiving child pornography. At the guilty plea, Lindgren admitted that, in 2007, he used the Internet to download child pornography.

Lindgren was sentenced in Sioux City by United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett. Lindgren was sentenced to 66 months’ imprisonment. A special assessment of $100 was imposed, and Lindgren must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release. He must comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel and was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Schaller Police Department, the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, and the Buena Vista County Sheriff’s Office.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
