Klinksiek: Vote for me to “get some new blood in the system”

Supervisor candidate Kyle Klinksiek describes why he is running for the Board Of Supervisors against incumbent Jay Urdahl.

by Matt Marquardt –

MASON CITY – “It can’t get any worse.”

That’s what Cerro Gordo County Supervisor candidate Kyle Klinksiek said this week in an interview regarding the performance of the current board of supervisors.

In the interview, Klinksiek was asked to describe his candidacy for the District 1 Supervisor position and what he would do differently than his opponent, incumbent Jay Urdahl, who has served on the board for 24 years.

Klinksiek believes in term limits and says he would only serve two terms maximum.  He also says he would lower his pay if elected to $35,000.  Cerro Gordo County Supervisors currently are paid $45,331 and are set to make $46,464 in 2013.  Many consider the supervisor position to be “part-time” although it does carry quite a bit of responsibility.

Klinksiek, who delivers goods from the Target Distribution Center in Cedar Falls to Chicago as a truck driver, said that distribution center is an example where Cerro Gordo County missed an opportunity to land a lot of jobs.  He says that if elected, he would work to bring more opportunities like that one to the area.

Watch the following interview to learn more about Klinksiek’s platform and why he is running for the board.
