Sievertsen Honored For Month Of September

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Junior kicker Tyler Sievertsen has been honored by the Fred Mitchell Award for his excellence on the football field and in the community during the month of September. Sievertsen is one of 31 place-kickers honored this month.

Sievertsen is currently second on the team in scoring with 30 points from four-of-five field goals and 18-of-18 extra points. He scored 10 points against Iowa on Sept. 15, including a career-long 49-yard field goal.

The junior from Cedar Rapids, Iowa is currently the active leader in career field goal percentage in the FCS and ranks sixth nationally in field goals made. He is averaging 63 yards on 24 kickoffs.

Of the 31 place-kickers honored, nine from the FCS were represented while nine from Division II, 10 from Division III, two from NAIA and one from NJCAA also made the list. The 31 place-kickers represent 24 different states, 16 seniors, eight juniors, six sophomores and one freshman.

The recipient of the Fred Mitchell Award will be announced in mid-December based on performance on the field and in the community.
