Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Three Armed Robberies

PHILADELPHIA—Marvin Gibson, 39, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today to 15 years in prison for three armed robberies in Philadelphia. Gibson and his co-defendant Jackson Doggette, also of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty to Hobbs Act robbery and firearms charges. The defendants brandished a handgun while robbing the Metro PCS store located at 3613 Germantown Avenue, on August 24, 2011, of approximately $50; the Metro PCS store located at 3154 N. Broad Street, on September 9, 2011, of approximately $850; and the Rite Aid store located at 810 S. Broad Street, on October 18, 2011, of approximately $2,230. Doggette, 22, also of Philadelphia, will be sentenced October 9, 2012.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Court Judge Mitchell S. Goldberg ordered Gibson to pay restitution in the amount of $3,130 and a $500 special assessment and ordered five years of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Philadelphia Police Department, and the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ewald Zittlau.
