Romney slams Obama backers as ‘dependent on government,’ tax dodgers

GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney addresses the audience at the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s 33rd Annual National Convention at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles, California on Monday, September 17, 2012.

By Seema Mehta, Los Angeles Times –

LOS ANGELES — Mitt Romney’s presidential bid, already pushing back against suggestions that he was losing ground to President Barack Obama, confronted more difficulty Monday when a secretly taped video showed him describing nearly half the nation’s population as “dependent on government” and unwilling to take responsibility for their lives.

The comments were made at a private fundraiser earlier this year and published Monday by the news organization Mother Jones. In the video, whose authenticity the Romney campaign did not dispute, the Republican nominee told donors that he doesn’t need to worry about supporters of Obama, who rely on government services and pay no income tax.

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it,” Romney said. “That-that’s an entitlement. And (they think) the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what … These are people who pay no income tax.”

Romney said he would focus on unaligned voters and not on Obama backers.

“(M)y job is not to worry about those people,” Romney said. “I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

The Obama campaign called the statement “shocking” and said Romney had slandered needy Americans, among others.

“It’s hard to serve as president for all Americans when you’ve disdainfully written off half the nation,” said Obama campaign manager Jim Messina.

Romney aides did not directly address the video, saying in response to its release that the GOP nominee is committed to helping all Americans and that he has long been dismayed by the country’s growing dependence on government, such as the unprecedented number of people who receive food stamps.

“Mitt Romney’s plan creates 12 million new jobs in four years, grows the economy and moves Americans off of government dependency and into jobs,” spokeswoman Gail Gitcho said in a statement.

But the comments were dangerous to the former Massachusetts governor’s effort on at least two fronts. They ran counter to Romney’s argument that he would better serve Americans seeking work than Obama, whom he blames for persistently high unemployment.

And they also placed Romney, a wealthy former venture capitalist, in the position of appearing to belittle those with far fewer financial resources than he enjoys. His argument that nearly half of the American population pays no income taxes is accurate, but it does not note that many pay other taxes, including the federal payroll tax, state taxes and local taxes. Most of those who pay no taxes at all are either destitute, disabled or elderly. (Romney, too, has been criticized for paying far less in income taxes, percentagewise, than many middle-class workers because most of his income derives from investments, which are taxed at a lower rate than earnings.)

The video’s release came at an already fraught time, amid news articles detailing internal dissent among Romney’s top advisers, and questions about the effectiveness of his economic message.

Romney and his advisers have frequently said that the candidate would not offer much in the way of specifics to avoid giving his rivals ammunition. On Monday morning, after a weekend of leaked grievances by his top advisers, campaign officials reversed field and told reporters that Romney would now begin offering new details about tax and economic policy.

“We think the American people are looking forward to hearing how we can turn our economy around; they’re open to hearing our proposals on this front,” Romney senior adviser Ed Gillespie said.

Hours later, Romney addressed 1,400 people at a Los Angeles conference of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, promising to cut federal spending, help small businesses and to reform a “broken” immigration system. But he offered no new details on how he would accomplish those goals, notably declining to say what he would do with the 12 million people living in the nation illegally, a key concern among Latino voters. Instead, Romney argued that Latinos have been particularly hurt by Obama’s economic policies, reeled off a list of Latino politicians who are Republicans and reiterated that as president he would create jobs.

The lack of specificity was noted by those in attendance.

“I would have loved to hear a little more detail about how he plans to help American businesses, but I understand he had limited time,” said Hispanic Chamber CEO Javier Palomarez.

The videotaped Romney speech, however, quickly buried the candidate’s message. Mother Jones’ Washington bureau chief, David Corn, told MSNBC that the fundraiser occurred in May at the Boca Raton, Fla., home of Marc Leder, the co-CEO of Sun Capital Partners, a private equity firm. The video could not be independently verified by the Los Angeles Times.

In the recording, Romney told the crowd that his father was born in Mexico to American parents, and joked that he would have a better shot at winning the presidency if his grandparents were Mexican. He conceded that he was having trouble winning over Latino voters, who side overwhelmingly with Obama. And he outlined a campaign tactic of deeming the president as “in over his head” — rather than an abject failure — in order to appeal to swing voters who supported Obama in 2008 but are disappointed by his tenure.

Politicians are frequently more candid when speaking at fundraisers that are closed to the media than they are at public events, offering up inside takes on their campaigns, their policies and their world views to supporters who have paid handsomely to see them.

Obama found himself in a similar circumstance in 2008, when he was covertly taped at a San Francisco fundraiser saying that “bitter” small-town voters “cling to guns or religion.” Hillary Rodham Clinton, then a rival for the Democratic nomination, hammered Obama with his words, and he was forced to apologize.

The words have lived on in the 2012 campaign, with Republicans continuing to use them against him. Vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan did so Monday in Iowa.

Ya bodacious date was 10/19/1998 and I agree that means it was even more of a heartfelt statement of redistribution of wealth since he wasn’t as polished and as hard core of a politician as he is now. He probably knows better how to cover up his feelings except when he talked to Joe the Plumber in 2008.

Unfortunately, all Mr. Romney’s statement did was to emphasize the ‘us versus them’ mentality that exists in this country today. And although his facts are nearly correct, he offers nothing to alleviate that rivalry and, if elected, will continue to widen the gap. I think President Obama will fare a little better in shrinking the gap between the haves and the have nots and that is why I favor him in the election.

Bodacious you hit the nail right on the head about Obama shrinking the gap b/w the haves and have nots because I listened to his audio tape that’s all over the media. Now you know why wealthy people park their money in other countries. You never know when a socialist president will come along and decide you shouldn’t get to keep what you have earned and that the government should confiscate all of it and spend it however that president and his minions sees fit. I wish I had enough to hide offshore. And so many people vote for him because he has been so ineffective at creating jobs that they are dependent on him and his socialist government for food, housing, and health care that they don’t dare vote for someone who will make them go back to independence so they can afford all this stuff on their own. Some would like to work for the American Dream, but way too many are happy being taken care of by the government from cradle to grave. If you want to work, contribute to society, pursue the American Dream, and want that for all able-bodied and able-minded Americans, don’t vote for socialism! Vote to restore a robust American economy.

@ Bodacious. Ya, well, he made his comments to Joe the Plumber in October 2008. The man has talked about redistributing the wealth, which is a tenet of socialism, many times. He can spin it any way he wants to make it sound like a good idea, but it’s still socialism. Why don’t you check into his dealings with real estate developers like Valerie Jarrett in Chicago? He helped displace 250 apartments of poor black people to build new apartments with a higher class of people in them. The poor black people became homeless. And the real estate developers got government help and became rich.

Katie, I looked at the link you listed. Yes, it seems that some blacks in Chicago are not happy with Mr. Obama. But nowhere did I read that Obama helped displace tenants of 250 housing units so that a higher class of people could move in (and, presumably, pay more rent). But 4 people out of thousands isn’t a damning claim. Besides, the Washington Examiner is a conservative newspaper which dislikes our President and would print anything that is derogatory about him.
“The Examiner is owned by Denver billionaire Philip Anschutz.[4] Politico described the paper as “a megaphone for [Anschutz’s] right-wing views on taxes, national security and President Barack Obama.” So, I think you are exaggerating the redistribute the wealth statement to help fuel the paranoia that is so widespread today – on both sides of the political spectrum.

I have voted for democrats and republicans for thirty years now and what has it got me? A lot of corrupt politicians! The Democrats give money to anyone that asks for it and would never cut a program if their life depended on it so our debt soars. Reagan, Bush and Bush promised to cut spending and shrink government but none of them did. They gave welfare to businesses which does create jobs and raise tax revenue but between the tax cuts and no spending cuts our debt soared. So why does anyone believe it will be different this time? The country just keeps going back and forth and some how expecting a different result. This will continue until a third party or Independent candidates start winning elections. End this madness and stop voting for the two partys that have created this mess.

How many more businesses do you think will go to other countries if Obama gets re-elected? Between taxes and regs that escalated under his watch the projection is that new regs will cost corp America another 1/2 tril. Who will make up the extra cost? We will with increased cost of products. Why the 2 trill sitting on sidelines? Maybe to wait for the election and decide if corps should put it into US or move operations elsewhere. I think the choice is pretty clear. You can’t have one of the highest corp taxes in the world and expect them to locate here. If you had a corp and it was your responsibility to max your profits or your shareholders may fire you would you pick a high corp rate country? Some of this is such basic stuff.

Ok Obama fans, really lets get to some facts. I’m middle class like most of you, lets get real, middle class Obama keeps preaching that he is for the middle class… Is he so full of shit or are you so stupid that you believe this redric. Just a few facts here, gas, that affects the middle class not the rich has gone up a dollar to a dollar and a half per gallon, you really think that is hurting the upper class in the united states that pay 80 percent of the taxes.? Food, well we are not eating caviar and lobster every night, so guess what, food prices affect the middle class. Taxes on cell phones, utilities, home phone, our cheap f***ing keystone beer, our Newport cigarettes, grizzly chew is all costing YOU 30 percent more than it did three years ago. the list goes on and on… check your facts. Don’t just listen to redric, home values are down 30-50 percent, wake up America unless you want to see a total collapse on our government, economy and way of life as you know it keep voting democratic and all the bottom fetters will go from three kids on welfare to six and you will be paying for it, and lets not forget there free cell phones, childcare, housing, food, car repairs, medical, dental, eye care, weatherization, memberships, soup kitchen, and if you move to California illegal immigrants can go to college for FREEEEEEE!!!

I’m not scrambling, I’m applauding him, along with a lot of other people. I actually heard a talking head blame FDR for the mess our country is in now. I guess he must have ESP and be channeling me. 😉 People are glad Mitt actually said what he did and that he is standing his ground. I saw him on Cavuto and he did a great job of explaining that people in this country should not be satisfied accepting welfare. They should want to be working and should want leadership that will create jobs, help restart business initiative in this country and get people back to work so they CAN pay taxes again! Our founding fathers created a country of capitalists, not socialists. We are a society of workers bees, not parasites that debilitate the host down to within an inch of its life without actually killing it. Let’s change our attitudes and get this country back on a proud track.

But Romney said he isn’t concerned about any of the 47%, That includes those people who rely on Social Security (the elderly), our armed forces (veteran’s administration), Medicare and Medicaid – things that many of those 47% worked long and hard for. What do we do with those “freeloaders” Katie, throw them to the dogs? Hope you or your family isn’t one of those who depend on any of those payments which they earned.

Katie

: You’re a broken record. You don’t seem to understand. Freeloaders aren’t people who have earned anything. People who are getting social security and military benefits have earned them. Yes, they may be in the 47%, but it’s darned hard to separate out exactly how many have earned a government check in a family and how many have not. It’s too bad he named a percentage. He was simply trying to talk about the number of people who would likely not vote for him. He didn’t say he wasn’t concerned about them as people. He said he wasn’t concerned about them as voters. He was speaking about his campaign. And we don’t throw freeloaders to the dogs. We put them back to work in a capitalistic society once we get a president who understands how to create new businesses and jobs instead of ramping up the size of government by spending more tax money on ineffective stimuli.

Well, a Democrat named Roosevelt started this mess when he began Social Security and took personal responsibility out of people’s own hands. It was a huge mistake. And it was made worse by the government wage freeze after WWII. Businesses could not give pay increases so they gave health and life insurance to employees instead. Then it became expected. Another huge mistake on the part of businesses.
Romney wants to get everyone in this country back to self-sufficiency. That is the model for this country – not Obama’s socialism. We should all be striving for increased initiative, productivity, and self-sufficiency that will once again make us all proud Americans who can take care of the people who really need it, not those who merely want it.

Romney lives in a bubble. He has no idea of what it is to work for a living and trying to make ends meet. I doubt he has ever balanced a checkbook or even written a check. He believes the only people that matter are the rich. He has some middleclass Americans believing he cares about them due in part to racisum and hate for the poor and needy. He preaches true redneck values and some middle class are just eating that up. The man has given us no specifics on how he wants to accomplish anything. This recording shows how he truely feels about the middle class Americans. He all but calls us leaches. Many of the 47% he talks about are men and women who have worked all their lives and are now on SS, military pensions, or disabilities. These people for the most part have worked very hard all their lifes and have paid into the funds they are now collecting. So the true colors of Mitt are coming out. I’m sure there will be more before Nov 6

You are wrong. Mitt has worked all his life. He has an MBA and is a self-made man. He knows all about long hours, stress, and failed business ventures. He also is not talking about people on SSA, Social Security, military pensions, or disability. He is talking about MOOCHERS who are living on government housing, food, and/or healthcare. People who can work, but don’t. We all know them. People who spend what money they do earn on luxuries like TV’s, cell phone service, computers, internet, tattoos, and then buy ready-to-eat meals with food stamps. These are people who take no responsibility for themselves. They feel no guilt at living off the government. They FEEL entitled and have no desire to live any differently. And they are enabled by a network of liberal social workers who sign them up left and right for these entitlements at the working man and woman’s expense. All they have to do is prove they aren’t making any money. Easy to do if you aren’t working or willing to work. Have a kid – stay at home and let Uncle and Auntie Sam take care of you. A huge percentage of children in our school systems – something like 80% – get assistance. I think that is absolutely outrageous. Why are people having these children they can’t afford? Our government needs to be putting personal responsibility ads on TV and teaching it in the schools!

DAMN RIGHT KATIE !! You are 100% correct on this matter. It’s way past time to get the welfare maggots off the system. This is long overdue! They know exactly how to screw the system over and pass it on from generation to generation, producing babies like rabbits – that they should not have unless they can provide for them ! Plain & simple !

The LIBERAL MACHINE promotes such behavior as this guarantees votes for their socialistic (spread the $$$) agenda! Folks should have to earn their wealth – just as ROMNEY ! The LIBERAL MACHINE just wants to give to them wealth (welfare maggots) for sitting on their dead asses!

Since when is the AMERICAN DREAM anyone’s goal to live off the government in the form of welfare? Who can answer that one? America has become the land of the handouts and home of the enslaved(43% of folks that cover the taxes)

The Social Security system was started in 1935, right after the Great Depression,to aid those families struggling. It has turned into a GIANT WELFARE ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM, unable to sustain itself for the future. When too many folks are drawing money out of the system and not enough are paying into the system – what the hell happens? We do not even need to wait to see what happens, it is occuring right now and with the BABY BOOMER GENERATION retiring it will dry up even faster! And don’t forget all the illegals that have access to the programs!

Seems very unfair to me that drug addicts & alcoholics can draw Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid benefits. Those were choices they made: to use drugs or alcohol !

Go Mitt! Finally a politician with the cojones to say what is really wrong with this society. I hope he doesn’t back off one bit from what he said about “entitlements”. He’s not talking about a hand up. He’s talking about a hand out. There are some people who need help that should get it, including the mentally disabled and the physically disabled who are totally unable to work. But way too many people make it a way of life to take the easy way out. We need to put a stop to automatic welfare to people who have children who can’t afford them. I know a couple who has 5 children with no health insurance. And they have the gall to say they could never afford their wonderful family if it weren’t for the government paying their medical expenses. Grrrrrrr. This attitude just plain needs to stop. It used to be embarrassing to accept welfare. Now it’s a right. WRONG! It should still be an embarrassment. You are MOOCHING off other people. Pay your own way if you are going to have children and make damned sure you don’t get pregnant if you can’t afford one! Welfare should NOT be a way of life for families. It should be for emergencies only!

The middle east is out of control and we are going to focus on something Mother Jones put out? Anybody familiar with this organization? Enough said. If you familiarize yourself with different news and commentary sources you’ll at least know who is trying to influence you on both sides. If you choose to be ignorant fine but it’s really not fair to the rest of us when you vote.

Way to try and change the subject. The article is about Romney admitting he disowns HALF of the country! To be truthful, he only cares about 1%.

Seriously you don’t care that there’s proof the White House is using Media Matters and pushing press ideas–that is govt controlled propaganda? You’re okay with that? I don’t especially like either party but what I dislike more is being manipulated. It’s time to quit letting the political media decide things.

Wha, Wha, the truth hurts doesn’t it. People expect something for nothing and it just doesn’t work that way. You get what you work for and if yu don’t believe that look at Europe and all the socialist country’s of the world where all the people want to come to the U.S.A. Everyone wants to come here and when they do they all want to make us just like they were and that is because they don’t have to work where they come from. 30 hours a week and who knows how many holidays and then they wonder why they can’t live like we do. Wake up. Obama lies and always has. We just can’t afford another 4 years of this guy.

How can you stick up for this guy? I am middle class, part of the 47% I guess. I get no entitlements or take advantage of any government programs. I also pay income taxes, payroll taxes, property taxes and sales taxes. I AM NOT FREELOADER!!! I take offense to Romney’s statements and his terrible country club attitudes. He is a very poor example of a human being and would be a very poor, divisive president. He thinks the poor, sick or elderly can curl up and die. And if you are young and want to go to college, say goodbye to student loans or tax breaks…just borrow money from your parents. Easy to say when they are millionaires.

How are you with Obama using propaganda in the press to get you to think a certain way? Does that bother you at all? Media Matters collaborating to help cover for this administration is bad. It’s a tax exempt organization so is not supposed to take sides. Do you evey read the other side of the story and if not does it bother you that you only get 1/2 the info out there? How do you make decisions with only 1/2 of what you need to know?

It’s easy John-I worked very hard all my life and I don’t have a lot but what I have is mine and I earned it. I never asked for nor recieved any help from anyone. I went without insurance and couldn’t get it at any costs and I was bitter over that but I never wanted something for nothing. I pay my own way and everyone else should as well. If you want extra work extra. I am not talking about someone who really needs the help but if they are able to work that is what they should be doing.

: Are you aware that Mitt shut down Bain Capital and took his entire staff to NYC when one of his coworker’s daughters went missing there? They printed flyers at Staples, hired investigators, and searched for her until they finally got a lead and found her, thankfully, unharmed. He is not an uncaring person. He is an organizer, a leader, a very caring person who puts people and friends before profit. Would your boss do this? Did you listen to any of the speeches at the Republican Convention given by the people who knew him years ago before he had any reason to do what he did? If not, Google them and listen to them. And then tell me what you have done lately.

There’s more than 4,000 federal rules in the pipeline. The 13 biggest rulles alone will cost businesses over 1/2 a trillion over the next 4 years. Think many jobs will be created at those businesses? No, the jobs will be in the govt to enforce the rules and you will pay for those wages & benefits. Until your money runs out, then what? Is that the country you want to leave to your kids and grandkids?

alot of people work all the life they have (12 hr day factory jobs construction truck driving etc) and still cant afford to send the 3 kids they have to school when they both work and live in the home.

i guess them people are just “needy” lookin for a hand out and not “working hard enough”

Every day people that don’t come from wealth work multiple jobs, go to school, and take care of families and work to get ahead. It’s hard but many do it so they can get a better job. In this country the vast majority are those that did this. Stop acting like those that have done well were born into rich families, that simply is not true.

The lies are what’s getting to me. Obama saying Romney is going to increase taxes on the middle class by $2,000. What in the world? There is no evidence for that. They are making it up. Romney has never said that. How can you have a decent discussion on things when people are lying?

Romney has never said how he is going to do anything. He has no specifics just generalizations. How can anyone believe a word that comes out of his mouth after all the shifting he has done on issues. His plan is to balance the budget by cutting taxes. How does that work? If you work 40 hours a week and you can’t make it on those hours what do you do? Work 30 hours a week? That is just what he is preaching. His arithmatic doesn’t add up. If he is going to give all the rich big tax cuts he has to tax middle class more to make up the lost revenue. Do the math.

Tax cuts on businesses generate more positive business cash flow, which generates more jobs, which generates more income taxes.

A tax cut for a business generates a profit, period. What that business chooses to do with it is up to the business. They don’t hire more people because they make more profit and do not have a increase in demand. Quit regurgitating what you have been fed by the GOP.

TRUTH HURTS the OBAMA movement! Finally, someone has the ‘nads to speak up about the welfare system and how 47% of (legals & illegals) are dependent on the government for survival! The LIBERAL MACHINE promotes government dependency because it guarantees them votes – PLAIN & SIMPLE.

The Liberal Machine is using a scare tactic on those folks gullible enough to believe the OBAMA rhetoric. If Obama wins in Nov., Seniors on MEDICARE will have a rude awakening as health care providers will decrease services due to a 30% scheduled decrease in reimbursments effective Jan. 1, 2013. Government will decide what kind of healthcare services you will get! $700 BILLION dollars has already been scheduled to be removed from the MEDICARE program and given to OBAMACARE ! That ought to make Medicare recipients mad as HELL!

Welfare reform & (ECONOMY) job creation should be on Americans minds as they go to the polls in November – not how many more welfare programs will I have access to if I vote for Obama!

Of course the LIBERAL BIASED MEDIA puts their spin on Romney’s comments – but the TRUTH HURTS – right Americans & Illegals ?

ROMNEY/RYAN on NOVEMBER 6 ! And please bring your photo ID when you vote – should be law! I must show my photo ID to purchase cold meds but not have to show an ID when voting…WTH ?

The Bush administration got us in the mess we are in, and 4 years isn’t enough to fix it all. And at least Obama is more of a real person than Romney. Romney can’t even begin to understand what it’s like for lower and middle income families, his worth is 250 million, and most Americans can’t even comprehend living in Romney’s world. Romney’s an elitist and doesn’t care about us real people.

Romney has said that he thinks the middle class makes between $200,000 – $250,000 a year! And now ALL Obama supporters (the middle class) are leeches and pay no income taxe. B.S. My wife and I make much less than that and we get NO entitlements or hand-outs and we DO pay income tax, property tax, sales tax, etc. This guy was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and is SO out of touch with MOST of America it is criminal. He wants to divide this country and soon the struggling middle class will be gone. There are more people on unemployment and “food stamps” because of the mess that George W. and people like Mitt have left this country in. Like he said “He likes to fire people.”

@Joe, in most large cities, the middle class does make $200-250,000, just not here in the Midwest. He’d be laughed at in NYC if he said the middle class makes $75,000. And yes, you have to fire people who aren’t doing their jobs or aren’t profitable. Otherwise, businesses fail. And because he is rich, he can afford to try and fail at business. Most people cannot. Obama has failed miserably the last 4 years. Romney will not because he has seen what has been done wrong. And Osama bin Laden started what happened in the Mideast, not Bush. Remember 9/11? Thank goodness Hillary told Obama he had to go after him when they finally found him.

I don’t know where you get your “facts” about $250,000 being middle class in large cities, but I think I have heard you say that teachers make too much money. The teachers in Chicago make around $75,000 average so they are lower class according to your thinking and Romney’s. A quarter of a million a year is not middle class. Go to Des Moines. Ask them what middle class is. Go to Chicago or Detroit and ask them. And, by the way, the Middle East has little to do with Osama Bin Laden. That was Bush’s idea. He decided that there were weapons of mass destruction there and he started the war to get rid of them. And as we all know, there were no wmds.

There was WMD’s in Iraq, not only was there reports of serin gas used against US troops but there was other forms of biological weapons because I am a witness, I saw them. Plus there was dozens of al qaeda training camps that had been there for years. You blame it all on Bush yet through your ignorance you forget about 9/11. Plus the economy is the fault of a democratic congress, not Bush. He warned congress 17 times not to do what they were doing but they did it anyway. If the librals would just pull their head out of their a$$ and check the facts before they open their ignorant mouths we would all be better off.

: I said $200,000 isn’t middle class in the MIDWEST. Des Moines, Detroit and Chicago are in the MIDWEST. I’m talking about the east coast, west coast, large cities in the south. And in most of those cities in the Midwest, both spouses work and bring in more money than $75,000. If you look at the price of used houses in the suburbs there, you can tell about what it takes in income to be in the middle class. You can live much more cheaply here than in cities. And there is a much bigger spread for middle class than just $50,000 income, as far as I’m concerned. Middle class people in NYC pay a bigger chunk of tax than middle class people in Iowa.

Katie

: Yes, you’re right. The 200 tons of yellow cake uranium were a figment of our imagination. And “maybe” says he personally saw other forms of WMD’s and found Al Qaeda camps. Bush acted on intelligence that members of Congress also saw and voted to act upon. In the past, I have posted the list of Senators and Representatives who voted Aye and there were plenty of Democrats who supported the war. It turned out that one of the informants had his own agenda and wanted the USA to take down Saddam, if I recall correctly, and exaggerated the extent to which Saddam had developed his nuclear capabilities. That intelligence had also been given to other countries, so it was collaborated elsewhere and seemed good, to the best of my recollection. I don’t have time to research all this right now. Call me on it if I’m wrong. If you had all this evidence from multiple sources and didn’t discover it was bogus, what would you have done? I’m afraid Obama will fail to act on Iran because he won’t believe a reliable source and the Mideast will blow up worse than it already has. He already ignored warnings about our Embassy.

Romney is just telling the truth. Obamaa continues to throw welfare money around so people don’t want to even try to work or find a job. I have nothing against people getting welfare when they need it, especially the elderly, but there are too many young people that are just collecting welfare money and not even trying to get a job. That is ridiculous! Yes, Romney has money, but he made it on his own and was in with several other business men. They worked together and had success. Isn’t that to be the Americal way? The majority of our presidential candidates have alot of money so big deal. He has business sense and a lot of them don’t. I am a democrat, but I am tired of them throwing money away and sending so much out of the country. I vote for the man, anyway. Not the party just because I am affiliated with it.
