Ventura man awaiting trial on domestic assault faces new charges

MASON CITY -A Ventura man already in jail had more charges added Wednesday.

Daniel Martez Judon III, 34, whom authorities list as a Ventura resident, is currently being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a serious domestic assault charge, described as “an aggravated misdemeanor, if the domestic abuse assault is committed with the intent to inflict a serious injury upon another, or if the person uses or displays a dangerous weapon in connection with the assault.”

Judon was arrested on August 23rd, 2012 by Mason City police on the domestic assault charge and has plead not guilty.  A motion for a bond reduction (set at $1000 previously) by Judon’s attorney Susan Flander was denied by Judge James Drew.  He will go to trial on November 14th.

Judon had new charges imposed on him Wednesday related to the care of  an animal.

Judon was charged with No Rabies, No Dog License, and Sanitary Conditions violations and a bond was set at $500.00 on those charges.

Judon had riot charges brought by the Mason City Police Department dismissed by Judge Charles Biebesheimer in 2003 due to insufficient evidence.  He also plead guilty in 2008 for driving while barred as a habitual offender; found guilty of operating while intoxicated in 2001; had charges of interference with official acts brought by the Iowa State Patrol in 2001 dismissed by Judge Charles Biebesheimer; found guilty of interference with official acts and public intoxication in 2002 after charges were brought by the Mason City Police Department (given time served and $250 fine by Judge Charles Biebesheimer); had assault charges brought in 2003 by the Mason City Police Department dismissed by Judge Colleen Weiland; found guilty of interference with official acts by Judge Weiland after he failed to show up for court ($111 in fines and court costs); had domestic assault charges brought by Mason City Police Department in 2005 dismissed by Judge Weiland due to insufficient evidence; plead guilty in 2007 to assault causing bodily injury but had charges of harassment, tampering with a witness and criminal mischief dismissed by Judge Brian McKinley (given 2 days in jail); had charges of domestic assault brought by Mason City Police Department in 2009 dismissed by Judge Carolyn Grupp; was found guilty of assault causing bodily injury in 2011 by Judge Ronald Wagenaar (14 days in jail and still owes $1086.49 in court fees); plead guilty to interference with official acts in 2007 after an incident involving the Clear Lake Police Department (given 2 days in jail and still owes $125 in court costs); and other offenses.
