MASON CITY – Mayor Eric Bookmeyer took time out of his day Friday to volunteer for the Meals on Wheels program at Mercy Hospital.
“It’s always fun,” the Mayor said, as he pulled up to Mercy’s west entrance.
Bookmeyer said that he has participated 3 or 4 times in the past in making the deliveries.
“If they call, I always try to help. My schedule is pretty fluid throughout the day,” he said.
Bookmeyer had 10 stops to make over the noon hour, mostly on the south side of the city.
His first stop was Doris Halls at 1226 South Federal.
“Enjoy, and have a great day,” the Mayor told her.

Bonding with the mayor, Matt? Delivering meals is quite rewarding and it’s a good way to check on seniors.
about time he done somthing for someone other than hiself
He has a little over a year left in office and he knows it!!
I agree…He is thinking about re-election!
He is probably doing it because they told him it was free food. Must be getting closer to election time. I notice he didn’t come up here to the crime ridden North End.
Thank you Mayor for helping people. There are lots out there that need it.
He’s actually giving back to the community that he’s stolen so much from.
I’m shocked!
Dismayed!
Dumbfounded!
OMG!
Matt, is this your attempt at “trying” to be a nice guy for once? You’re always hating on our sweet mayor.
There is no hate for anyone. A critic at times, yes. I am outspoken, I use my real name when I speak, that does not equal hate. He deserves good press for doing good things, too.
even the dogs dislike mayor bookmeyer!!!!!
