Billy Graham released from hospital after two-day stay

By David Zucchino, Los Angeles Times –

DURHAM, N.C. — Evangelist Billy Graham was released from a North Carolina hospital Tuesday after a two-day stay for treatment of bronchitis, his doctors announced.

“Mr. Graham had a quick recovery and responded very well to his treatment,” said Daniel Fertel, a pulmonologist at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C. “Despite this illness, he remains remarkably healthy for a 93-year-old man.”

Graham, who was admitted early Sunday morning, returned to his home in tiny Montreat in the mountains of western North Carolina. He thanked his supporters for prayers and letters.

“Such an outpouring of love and support is always a blessing but was especially appreciated during my hospitalization,” Graham said in a statement.

Graham’s spokesman, A. Larry Ross, said the evangelist will resume normal activities, which include physical therapy, ministry projects and writing a memoir of his seven decades of public evangelism.

The hospitalization was the second in eights months for Graham. He was admitted in November for treatment of pneumonia.
