MASON CITY – Saturday afternoon at about 4:27 PM, a Mason City police officer was patrolling the area of 6th Street NE and North Delaware Ave. when he spotted a man known to have two valid out of county warrants out for his arrest.

The officer attempted to make contact with the subject, identified as Jason Robison, 38, of Mason City, (seen at left in handcuffs) who was riding a bike. Robison fled, riding the bike, and then abandoned it on 5th Street NE, where a two hour search ensued.

Mason City police officers conducted an extensive search of about one city block, assisted by the Worth County Sheriff’s K-9 Team.  Worth County Sheriff Dan Fink entered, announced and released his K-9 in the building of 108 5th Street NE.   Several minutes later he came out empty handed.  Mason City Police continued to look at neighboring houses and backyards. It was reported that Robison had called 911 and said, “Hey, give me a minute and I’ll turn myself in. What do you want me for?”

With the help of an onlooker, who spotted suspicious motioning from a resident sitting on a porch, the officers inspected near a third house.  Mason City Police found Robison in the bushes behind that house.

Robison was finally taken into custody without incident on two Worth County warrants: One for second degree theft, a class C felony and another for driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor.
