Man accused of sexually assaulting babysitter

Patrick O’Shea, Beaver County Times, Pa. –

ELLWOOD CITY — An Ellwood City man has been charged with sexually assaulting a female who was babysitting his children.

Ellwood City police have charged Christopher Lee Kennedy, 32, of 401 Hillside Ave. with aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and indecent exposure. He remained in the Beaver County Jail Wednesday on $15,000 bond.

Police said the babysitter, who is not being identified because of the nature of the charges, contacted them about 2 p.m. Tuesday to report that she had been assaulted the night before about midnight.

The babysitter, whose age was not released, said she was watching three minor children of Kennedy’s when he returned home and began asking her personal questions about her sex life.

Police said the babysitter was lying on the couch when Kennedy sat down next to her and began touching her inappropriately. She objected, got up off the couch and fled to another room, the babysitter told police.

Police said Kennedy followed her into the kitchen, reached into the pocket of coveralls sitting there and pulled out a condom. He then went into the bathroom and returned with his pants down and a condom on, police said. The babysitter told Kennedy she was not going to do anything with him and he should leave, and he left out a side door, according to the police report.

Police interviewed Kennedy about 4 p.m. Tuesday about the incident, and he denied assaulting the babysitter or exposing himself to her. However, when officers ordered him to empty his pockets, police said Kennedy tried to conceal an opened condom wrapper in his hand.
