Darling Dog Show Held at North Iowa Events Center

by Jody Spear and Kelly Meyer –

MASON CITY – The North Iowa Fair hosted a Darling Dog Show at the North Iowa Events Center Friday evening at 6:00 PM in the All Seasons Center.

Sybil Soukup, Executive Director, and Tracy Hamand, Shelter Manager of the Humane Society of North Iowa, along with Lindsay Ralston, owner of Mohawk Boarding and Grooming had the hard job of judging these cute little four legged Darlings.

“It is hard,” said Soukup, “they are all cute, but a lot of fun. Now, we get to go judge a Cutest Stuffed Animal Contest, that’s going to be hard too.”

The contest went on with kids and adults marching their beloved pet up the stairs to the stage to dazzle the crowd with their charms and talents.

Carly Joynt and her dog Sprinkles, also known as Butterfly and Bee (pictured at top) had just got off the stage. Carly was waiting patiently for the results of the contest, but Sprinkles was getting a little restless, so to keep them busy, they did a little photo shoot with us.

“Here, you hold the treat,” said Carly, “that way she’ll look at you.” I think she had done this before, she was a pro.

Only minutes later, the reading of the winners started. Carly and Sprinkles, or Butterfly and Bee, took First Place.

There were ribbons, prizes and treats for the top three winners.
