Former Olympian Joins Hawkeyes

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Former Beijing Olympian, Lindsay Seemann will join the University of Iowa women’s swimming and diving team for the 2012-2013 season, UI head coach Marc Long announced Thursday. Seemann transfers to Iowa after spending her first two seasons swimming collegiately at the University of Arizona.

“Lindsay comes to Iowa with a wealth of swimming talent and experiences,” said Long. “She’s a great addition to our young, exciting team.”

During her sophomore season in Tucson, Seemann posted NCAA ‘B’ cuts in both the 500 free and 200 back. She has personal best times of 4:07.22 (400 free), 4:45.32 (500 free), 1:58.83 (200 back), 8:31.31 (800 free), 4:12.30 (400 IM), 2:03.89 (200 IM) and 10:03.85 (1,000 free).

Seemann also excelled academically at Arizona, earning PAC-12 All-Academic honors in 2011-12.

Internationally, Seemann competed in the 200 back at the 2008 Beijing Olympics at the age of 15, making her the youngest Olympian for Canada in the 2008 Olympics. Seemann also swam on the Canadian National Team at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championship, finishing in the top-eight in the 400-meter IM (4:45.36), while also competing in the 400-meter free, 800-meter free and 200-meter back.

Seeman joins a nationally ranked UI recruiting class that will join the program in 2012-13.
