FCCF grant scores new tables and chairs for Charles City Fire Dept.

FLOYD COUNTY – New tables and chairs in the training room of the Charles City Fire Department were a popular discussion point at a recent meeting of the Floyd County Community Foundation (FCCF) Community Awareness subcommittee.

Last January, at the annual FCCF Awards Ceremony, the Charles City Fire Department was given a $2,000.00 grant to purchase new tables and chairs for their onsite training room. A total of 8 tables and 49 chairs were purchased. FCCF member Dave Bahe, who is also a Charles City fireman, suggested the committee meet at the fire station so they could experience some of the good that the Community Foundation grants are doing throughout Floyd County. The fire department training room is used for further education for the firefighters, AMR staff, Floyd County Search and Rescue, and EMT-B. Contractors also use the room to teach safe work practices to their employees.

Thanks to the grant given by the FCCF, these newly purchased tables and chairs have enabled a greater number of people to attend training sessions and have increased the use of the training room.
