Start Times for Iowa Football

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The first three 2012 University of Iowa football games will start at 2:30 p.m. CT. Iowa will open its season Sept. 1 against Northern Illinois at Soldier Field in Chicago, before returning home to Kinnick Stadium to entertain in-state rivals Iowa State (Sept. 8) in the Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series and UNI (Sept. 15).

Iowa’s home games against the Cyclones and Panthers will be televised on BTN, while the season-opener against the Huskies will air on ESPNU. The Iowa-Northern Illinois game played at Soldier Field in 2007 was also televised on ESPNU.

Start times for eight of the Hawkeyes’ 12 regular season contests have now been announced. Home games against Minnesota (Sept. 29) and Nebraska (Nov. 23) will start at 11 a.m. CT, while the Oct. 20 contest against Penn State will be a prime time event, beginning at 7 p.m. CT in Kinnick Stadium.

Hawkeye road games at Michigan State (Oct. 13) and Northwestern (Oct. 27) will also have an 11 a.m. CT kickoff. Iowa will be the homecoming opponent when it visits both East Lansing and Evanston.

Iowa games against Minnesota, Michigan State and Northwestern will be televised by ESPN, ESPN2 or BTN. The Penn State contest will be televised nationally on BTN, while the “Heroes Game” against Nebraska will air nationally on ABC.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office is currently finalizing the fulfillment of requests for season tickets to the home games of the 2012 Iowa Hawkeyes from the general public and UI faculty and staff. Demand for season tickets has surpassed supply again this season.
