MASON CITY – The 32nd Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show, sponsored by the Safford and Lena Lock Photo Endowment Fund, will open on Friday, May 11 at 9 a.m. at the Charles H. MacNider Art Museum.
One hundred forty-three entries were received from residents in Cerro Gordo County and from those attending the spring and summer semesters at North Iowa Area Community College. Thirty-nine entries by twenty-one artists were chosen for exhibition by a panel of judges.
Area residents whose work was chosen for this year’s show are: Nick Andersen, Don Barnes, Joshua Brueggeman, Cheri Brueggeman, Shannon Heflin, Jim Reynolds, and Joyce Sorensen, all of Clear Lake; Brittany Ballantyne, Colette Ceilley-Slaven, Michelle Day, Kelsey Frenz, Dean Genth, Lisa Grouette, Harsha Jayawardena, Kathy Kinsey, Dennis Marsh, Bruce McKee, Gary Mott, Jeff Platt, and Paulette Searle, all of Mason City; Daniel Massee of Osage.
An opening reception and awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 17, starting at 6 p.m. The cash award winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m. $150 will be awarded to the entry selected as Best in Show. For the second award, $100 will be given, and the third award will be $50. Honorable mentions will also be announced.
The 32nd Annual Cerro Gordo Photo Show will be open to the public through Saturday, July 14, during regular museum hours. Admission is free of charge, and all are invited to the reception on May 17 to meet the exhibiting artists.
