Clear Lake Council to consider “One Corridor Agreement,” noise ordinance, more

by Matt Marquardt –

CLEAR LAKE – The Clear Lake Council will meet Monday evening for a special meeting.

Read the council packet here for detailed information.

Among the items to be considered and reviewed, City Administrator Scott Flory will present the Council with an update on the Surf Ballroom District Streetscape project, located at the 400 block of North Shore Drive, in front of the Surf Ballroom (pictured).

All necessary property has been acquired in order to complete the project.  Federal and state regulations have also been approved (federal NEPA study and state historical specifications.)

Cost of the project is $202,000, funded by TIF revenues and an Iowa DOT grant.

Construction would begin after Labor Day of this year and completion is slated for November.

Also on the agenda is review of the “One Corridor Agreement” that Mason City and Cerro Gordo County have already approved, which prevents one entity from luring a company or business away from its partners.  North Iowa Corridor Director Brent Willett will make a presentation.

Clear Lake Police Chief Greg Peterson will present again on the proposed noise ordinance for the city. Allowable noise levels are spelled out according to real estate boundaries: Residential, commercial, industrial. Violating the proposed noise ordinances would result in a simple misdemeanor.  See packet for more information and full meeting agenda.
