MASON CITY – “One man think tank” Ozzie Ohl was busy Thursday putting the final touches on his “Food Fun & Frank” sculpture to benefit the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank.
Ohl is set up in the south side of Southbridge Mall in a storefront across from Natural Nails, working the phones and coordinating donations of boxes of food and sets of hands.
“We are still just a little short on food donations in order to complete the sculpture fully,” Ohl said Thursday. “I’d like to ask anyone who would like to help this cause to drop off cans or boxes of food or a monetary donation right here in the mall where I am working.”

The food will go to the Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank once the sculpture is taken down next week.
Newman students have pitched in to help load crates of non-perishable food in to the storefront that will be used to erect the sculpture in the mall’s south side in front of Natural Nails. “They will be bringing in a big load Friday morning,” Ohl said.
Ohl’s latest volunteer is Brandon Kellar of Kellar Construction. “Brandon will be here setting up the scaffolding which will hold up the roof,” Ohl said.

The event is presented by Reflections Salon with assistance from food bank supporters Waggoner & Wineinger & Associates, North Iowa Builders Exchange and Southbridge Mall.
You will be able to see the sculpture this weekend. It will be roughly 13 feet wide, 22 feet long and over 13 feet tall, Ohl says.
