Supervisors agree to sell fairground land

by Matt Marquardt –

Cerro Gordo County Supervisors agreed to market fairgrounds land for sale at this morning’s meeting.

The land that will be marketed is just west of the Target Store on highway 122 and east of the main entrance to the fairgrounds.  It is a 2.3 acre parcel of land, for sale at a price of $700,000.

The county signed an exclusive listing agreement with Exit Realty of Mason city.  Agent Brian Carslon was in attendance to sign the agreement after the meeting.  Carlson is former volunteer a member of the North Iowa Fair Board but resigned some time ago.

According to the listing agreement, the commission rate on any sale would be assessed to the buyer.  This would be a 5% fee split evenly between the listing agency and the selling agency.

The buyer, if one comes forward, is responsible for all costs involved with the sale.

This is very interesting, did they all forget that on that piece of ground is a major gas line for Mason City. It is the backup line if there is a problem with the main gas line. You can’t build a building on that piece of ground. Man these people aren’t very smart. They tried it with the Hotel and that’s why they backed out.

dont you think its a coincidence that the land is “NOW” being sold at the fairgrounds, right at the same time some people are looking to build another ice and sports arena in town. many think, it makes more sense to build it at the north iowa event center, where it could make an all around better complex. like Ive stated before. it looks to me, like the fairboard has deliberately run the fairgrounds into the ground. and wants to make sure that the event center (fairgrounds) fails. this way they can sell the whole complex. stating that “we now have a start at a better complex with our new arena downtown.” many have said they wanted to move the fairgrounds. just maybe, they (city hall/fairboard members) are going to do that by starting to build elsewhere. something to think about.

Geez! If Herb were only around today he would let er fly. Hope they are successful so a new doctor can come to Mason City nd open his speciality practice. He would have a field day curing all of the bloggers who have a serious case of opticrectumnosis. Might require two doctors one to seperate the eyes and optice nerves and the other to pull those heads out of their rectums.

So was Brian Carlson from Exit Reality on The Fair Board befor?

Yes of course, that is the way this works.

Good, so why don’t they build that events center here??

Simpy because we have the wrong mayor and the rest just are not smart enough.

To bad they can’t get a Lowes to come in. The nearest one is in Owatonna.

Will they require some kickback to the board members at some point.

The racetrack isn’t impacted by this. It’s the front part of the property between the main gate and target.

Unless lodging is built & they complain enough to get the noise reduced – again.

What will happen to the raceway?
