Mason City man sentenced to Beje Clark again for violating probation

MASON CITY – On Monday, April 16th, 27-year-old Billy Lee Jaime Huerta of Mason City was found guilty in Cerro Gordo County District Court for violating the terms of his probation in an assault causing bodily injury case. Presiding District Court Judge Rustin T. Davenport sentenced Huerta to serve 180 days in Beje Clark’s Residential Faculty for the probation violation.

The probation revocation hearing had originally been set for March 6th but had to be continued after Huerta was admitted to St. Marys’ Hospital in Rochester, MN with a single gunshot wound hours before the scheduled court hearing.

Billy Huerta has refused to cooperate with law enforcement investigating the shooting incident which occurred about 11:16 pm in the 200 block of 3rd Street Northwest in Mason City. Law enforcement has not determined rather it was an intentional or accidental shooting at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Court records show the Iowa Department of Corrections filed for probation revocation proceedings following Huerta pleading guilty in an assault case that occurred on October 5th less than 30 days into his probation term in the assault causing bodily injury case. In addition Huerta pled guilty in December to a domestic abuse assault that occurred November 15th that was also considered in the probation violation sentencing on Monday.

According to court records Huerta was also sentenced to 180 days at Beje Clark in November 2008 after violation probation in a felony conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine conviction.
