AUSTIN, Minn. – NIACC softball completed the season sweep of Riverland Community College with 16-4 and 12-0 wins on Monday afternoon.
Jessica Robinett (Fr., Maxwell, IA) only gave up one hit in game two while striking out four, and Hailey Eckstein (Fr., Larsen, IA) struck out five Blue Devils in the opener.
NIACC’s hitters had 29 hits in the twinbill. Lisa Jorgensen (Fr., Rockwell, IA) and Krista Grutz (Fr., Dubuque, IA) both had four hits in game one, while Beth Mildenhall (Fr., Eldora, IA) had three. Eckstein led the Trojans in RBI with three, and Grutz and Mildenhall both recorded two RBI.
Grutz and Eckstein continued to burn the Riverland defense in the second game. Grutz added another two RBI and Eckstein added two hits. Anne Studer (Fr., Titonka, IA) also brought in a pair of RBI.
NIACC (10-18 overall) will play a doubleheader against No. 8 Iowa Central in Fort Dodge on Wednesday. Game one starts at 3:30 p.m.
