BOONE, Iowa – NIACC men’s golf team placed fifth out of eight at the DMACC Invite, with Brent Tarr (Fr., Mason City, IA) and Dalton Olson (Fr., Mason City, IA) both tying for 12th individually with scores of 75.
As a team, the Trojans shot 312, which was 24 shots behind tournament winner DMACC (288)
Brandon Wood (So., Rudd, IA) shot a 79 to place 24th, and Adam Brinkman (So., Clear Lake, IA) recorded an 81 to place 31st. Jacob Urdahl (Fr., Mason City, IA) rounded out scoring for NIACC with an 83 to tie for 38th.
“We got off to a sluggish start but I was really pleased with how Dalton, Brent and Brandon fought off slow starts and really did a good job of keeping themselves and the team in the golf tournament,” said NIACC golf coach Chris Frenz. “We have to get some consistency from the fourth and fifth scorers, and we’ll be just fine.”
After DMACC in the standings, Iowa Central took second with 293, AIB was third with 298 and Iowa Lakes fourth with 303. Ellsworth, Iowa Central’s B Team, and Southwestern rounded out the field.
“This is a good team and all of them expect more from themselves,” said Frenz. “We’ll keep getting better. It’s the second tournament of the season, so I’m not worried.”
NIACC will travel to the Ellsworth Invite at Briggs Woods in Webster City on Tuesday.
