MASON CITY – Mason City police were investigating a shooting late Monday night near downtown Mason CIty.

At about 11:16 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots fired in the 200 block of 3rd Street NW. At the scene, Mason City Police Department had the alley between 3rd Street and 4th Street NW blocked off with police tape. The tape also circled around the First Christian Church and parking lot on 4th Street NW and North Adams.
At about midnight, while officers were investigating the crime, police were notified that a person was admitted to Mercy Medial Center with a single gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Billy Lee Jamie Huerta, 27, of Mason City (See photo from his Facebook page, below).
The investigation is on-going at this time. Anyone with information is urged to call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

It seems that some posting here know what happenend. They should let the Police know what they know.
I don’t care if he fights with his fists or not, using a fire arm for self defense is leagal and justifiable as long as the gun owner is registered to carry.
Just because a photo is posted on a website or facebook page does not put it in the common domain. The photo is the property of the photographer or , and should not be used without permission. Copyright no longer requires notice.
Wrong! If you dont want photos being used or seen by others or public my suggestion is NOT to down load them in the first place. OR you can watermark your photos. Other wise its public. Its obvious Billy didn’t use these options.

The person that shot this tough guy, (and people like the shooter) were carrying guns long before it was legal for responsible to do so. When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns.

The person who shot him hasn’t been caught? No information about that? We’ll be seeing more of this type of fighting (gun fighting) now that these type of people have a right to carry one.
These “people” don’t have permits and most of there guns are probably stolen.
Looks like the Joker, the Midnight Toker was spreading around some happiness with a potpipe. That’s a great picture to have for the public to see. It’s not too hard to figure out why he doesn’t what to cooperate.

I heard ole Billy was being a bully to a black guy. Was beating on him and the guy got mad, went home, got his gun, came back and shot him.

If you read The Globe the police think he might have shot himself…The Globe even represents him with a mugshot from his domestic abuse arrest. Is that ethical to use a shooting victims mugshot in a news article?

One easy solution to not have your mugshot published. Don’t get arrested!!!!!! Especially numerous times.

Unless it is copywrited, pictures posted openly on the web are public domain. And I am pretty sure his is not copywrited.
He refused to talk to the police. Since he is a convicted drug dealer you tell me what a late 20ls person who has been unemployeed almost his entire life is doing in that nieghb orhood clase to midnight tring to fight somebody is doing. Fun fact he was do in court this morning to be sentenced to prison on a probation violation. I’m aware that people make mistakes & bad decisions & change for the good. Don’t judge someone by their past, they don’t live there anymore. Oh and since you’re so concerned, I’m not a druggie, never done drugs in my whole life!!! I just work with recovering addicts & know they CAN change. With discrimination like on here it’s a wonder they even bother to change. I mean who would want to have all of you perfect people judging them? from what i am told they r saying that if they remove the bullet there is a big chance he will be paralized and if they leave it in it could evenytually do the same. Thats the last update i got

I would also assume if he has no job, which i read above not saying that is true since i don’t know the chump, our tax dollars will be paying for his hospital stay also. Yeah this guy has been in a lot of fights and other kinds of issues. But to fight with your fists r 1 thing, to shoot someone and possibly make them paralized for the rest of their life, is just pathetic. And even if this guy has had alot of assults non are with a gun. No one deserves to possibly not be able to walk again just for getting into what was suppose to be just a fist fight. And shame on those who think he got what he deserves.
Assaulting someone and a fist fight are not the same thing. Anyone assaulting someone should expect that person to defend themselves with any weapon they have at hand. Actions have consequences.
well if im not mistaken this wasnt billy assulting someone this was an 2 participant arguement that lead to one person swinging and the other person fully aware of what they were doing when they incouraged the fight swung back as well. Conclusion the one who ran inside and got the gun, lost the fight fair and square. I dont know about u but I was brought up with the understanding that my fists are all the weapon i need win, lose, or draw. There is no excuse to use a weapon when its a fair fight that u encouraged to happen u deal with the outcome.
