President’s Weekly Address: Taking Control of Our Energy Future

President Obama talks about how the American auto industry is back and creating cars that are better than ever — and says we need to fight for a clean energy future that is within our reach.

“Every year, $4 billion of your tax dollars go to subsidizing the oil industry. These are the same companies making record profits – tens of billions of dollars a year. I don’t think oil companies need more corporate welfare. Congress should end this taxpayer giveaway. If you agree with me, I’m asking you to email, call or tweet your representative. Tell them to stop fighting for oil companies. Tell them to start fighting for working families.” – President Obama

Lets not forget Solyndra…which was run by his “bundlers” and now the demise of Volt…and how much govt funds went there…and his many other green energy projects that blew up…

President Clinton even says the community organizer is all wrong on Keystone..

Demise of the Volt? More like tempory layoff until supply reaches demand…

But, you’re too busy driving your Yukon or Suburban and complaining about the $4/gallon gas to try to find a way to decrease America’s dependence on oil…NOT just the Arab kind. I bet you’re pissed off by all the wind towers, too, because they detract from the mind numbing flat featureless landscape you’re used to in North Iowa…

Think of the future, not just the futures in which you invest.

I assume you mean when Demand increases to current OVERSUPPLY…then those people may be called back. But currently even with the govt support/subsidy they still cant sell them.

I do think of the future…and 1.4 trillion budget deficit each yr last 4 yrs disgusts me…and to think that no budget has been passed in 4 yrs disgusts me..last budget presented and actually voted on last year…went 0-97 against…he couldnt even get one democrat to vote for his budget.

And what I drive?? Its obvious you dont know me…I drive neither a Yukon…or Suburban..but what I do do….I use my real name…

Because no company ever has overstocked on products , nor has any automaker before GM now.

Everybody complains about government spending until some disaster befalls them, then their hands are as outstretched as far as anyone else’s.

Regarding defect spending, ask your buddy W. about his illegal war that he financed with tax cuts (huh?!), as it’s his mess to reckon with.

And ask just about ANY economist if government should restrict spending during times of economic uncertainty, or expand it. Better yet, ask Europe how dangerous austerity measures are to your economy, though they may not have quite learned the lesson yet.

Sorry, I’m not aware what the gas guzzling-ist Lexus or Mercedes or Land Rover is…I’m part of the 99% so I’m too busy paying my taxes.

What’s in a name? Stalkers on the Internet with nothing better to do. I respect your choice to use yours, but, having been the victim of identity theft, I’m not all that willing to use mine. I don’t even like that they scan your drivers license when you pick up a bottle of wine at Hy-Vee…

Illegal?? When presented to Congress…it passed…overwhelmingly…the Senators, and Congresspeople had all access to info..and they voted…many gave speeches for..I think Rep Kucinich was only person other than Rep Ron Paul to speak against it. As far as tax cuts…you do realize the fact that Obama..and his democratic held Senate and Pelosi held house extended those tax cuts 2 times…so at what point do they stop being bush tax cuts and become Obama tax cuts? Yes..prior to the swearing in of the Republican majority in the House…the Democrat controlled House…Democrat controlled Senate and of course the organizer extended those tax cuts and signed them into law 2 times.

I dont own a lexus…mercedes or land rover…

As far as taxes and amount paid…ya…I pay…way to much..

You’re a smart guy, John Rowe…thanks for getting me all riled up on politics on a Saturday night!

I hope you comment more on here…you’re well spoken (er, typed) and heads above the normal commentary one reads on NIT.

Gotta go to bed…the newborn isn’t sleeping through the night yet.

Cheers!

Gabfest…thanks for your kind words…but one thing…I am above no one..my point is to show people things…and if they get riled up…great…because we can’t continue on this path. I dont care what an economist says..I care what my local banker says…and if you spend way more than you bring in…and borrow nearly 38 cents of ever dollar you spend..that cant continue. And as far as Europe and austerity…people have been on the govt trough for years…now that is drying up due to austerity measures that they must put in place for what…yup…mopre govt bailouts….and what do they do? Riot and protest because the govt has to cut back…we are on a path that makes Greece look like vanilla pudding.

And I certainly understand the children and sleeping thing…we have three boys ourselves…gladly past the worrying about getting them to sleep all night stage.

Wow…he says Auto industry is back…GM still owes US Taxpayors nearly $30 billion dollars on the 500 million shares US Treasury still owns. Ask GM debt holders how they feel about the GM Bankruptcy and how the US Govt screwed them and circumvented normal bankruptcy laws. Of course they can record profits…when they dispose of billions of debt in bankruptcy. Chrysler…the same.

$4 billion a year in subsidies to oil and gas…same administration is BORROWING $135 BILLION A MONTH!! SUBTRACT 4 BILLION FROM CURRENT DEFICIT OF 1.4 TRILLION….ITS NOTHING…

Now Obamacare is going to cost an extra 111 billion more than expected…

Community organizer…he submits a budget that raises taxes he says are needed to lower deficit…yet even with his tax increases…deficit is even higher…my god…
