Watts to make announcement Thursday

MASON CITY – Mason City resident Chris Watts will be making an announcement Thursday regarding his plans on whether or not to run for a Cerro Gordo County Supervisor seat.

Watts (pictured) will be holding a press conference at 4 p.m. at the Mason City Public Library’s Commons Area.

The public is invited to attend.

If he decides to run for the seat, he would be challenging District 3 Supervisor Phillip Dougherty.

Watts regularly attends Supervisor meetings.  He is also known for his volunteer work in the community, helping lead the renovation of the Georgia-Hanford Park and the beautification of 19th Street SE.

The winds of change are in the air. I can smell it and it smells wonderfu.

All Watts wants is hand outs! All he cares about is 19th st and how it looks!!!

Pretty ignorant. What does 19th St have to do with it?
He raised these funds privately and with the neighbors help, improved a main arterial roadway within the city.
Maybe you should try volunteering yourself if you think what other volunteers do with their time is trivial.
And for the sake of argument, what has Phil or Jay done to volunteer?
They get $46,000.00 for a part time job.
Watts and his neighbors get crap from people like you!

All Iam saying is Watts belongs in city government!

The Globe has the full story of the actual announcement. Story of his political issues, his family, his community efforts. That’s the real story. But it’s not yet on NIT.

It sounds like Mr.Watts is only worrying about the city of Mason City. Not the citys of Cerro Gordo county.

Maybe you should have been there. Watts addressed taking it to the communities in Cerro Gordo County.
Grand idea-especially for the elderly that can’t get around the best anymore.

Chage is good. That is how you make progress. I am in favor of term limits on a local and national level. It keeps the politians from gaining to many friends (power). Go Chris.

Chage?

Moran!

The Globe Gazette had been informed that Chris Watts was making his announcement to run for county commissioner but purposely left any mention of it out of the newspapers, You want to take about conspiracies and nickle dime politics. Take a deep breath of that crap! Skipper at his best…..

They need to open the windows in that courthouse and let the stink out.

Dumb ass. Watts teases everyone with an announcement whether he will run or not. This is not a story. The story occurs today when he makes an actual announcement. If he runs, it’s a story and I’m sure the Globe will mention it. If he doesn’t run, that’s not a story. Only NIT would run a story about someone who may make an announcement that he is running. After all, there is a huge need for fluff to fill the spaces between the ads.

I’d beg to differ. I’d say Watts is doing it the way it should be done. He was giving the public the heads up so they could attend and talk with him.
Hard to do when you find out after the fact.

Urdahl has run unopposed three times; it didn’t cost him a dime to slip quitly back into that gravy train. He is aware that anyone can go online and see that he has slighly over $15,000.00 in cash in his re-election account but yet he wants more; that takes gall.

Chris Watts it has been said, turned down all contributions that were offered; what a difference between these two men. Tewnty five years is far too long for anyone to serve, lets change the complextion of that board and introduce new faces with new ideas. I am waiting to see a reelection ad run in the local paper that Urdahal has paid for.

I have lived here most of my life and really didn’t become aware about many things going on in this area until I started reading NIT. Like most others I too believe this three man board needs new blood, and term limits.

I have read about Chis Watts and his concern for this community and his unselfish efforts to make this a better city. I will support him and encourage the rest of you to break the yoke that has held sway over thic country far too long.

I will be interesting to see if backdoor and company gets a cronie to run. He don’t like Watts because he can’t control him. Remember how the county voted on his trash company.

I’m a friend of Chris’s. A little known fact–if you read about Jay bilking money from ‘friends’ below, Chris went after his first political position and ran on most all his own saving’s. He turned down donations before. I told him he needs to accept any and all that step up this time. If he wants to beat the system like the boys downtown. I would encourage any reader here to do your best in supporting his grass roots effort. I believe he’s proven himself in his many volunteer positions. He doesn’t know everything, but he’ll do his best to get the job done!!

Chris Watts would more than give you more then your money’s worth. He is a stright up guy and always has been. I wish him the best. I too think Phil has been there too long, time for a fresh face.

Why do you call for a press release to be scheduled to let the voters know that you will decide by then. why not announce and be firm about your intention

Here’s one for you bloggers. I logged into the Iowa Ethics website today.
Jay Urdahl has accumulated $15,432.00 in the Credit Union. AND he’s beating the streets asking for more.
Mind you, this money is from donations over the years from his ‘friends’ he bam-bozzeled.
The interesting rumor circulating is he’s got Gary Blodgett in his pocket-HELPING raise more money for Jay.
Find this a little wierd!!
Gary is a Republican and Jay is SUPPOSEDLY a Democrat.
Let’s NOT help Jay buy his way back!!

Gary Blodget is a liberal. He is another one of the closet Democrats that crossed the line and registered as a Republican. He is another liberal who supports the spread the wealth up concept of Tax Increment Financing.

You have to look close at motives. When you get right down to it, the Republicans that get elected are all so called moderates. They vote as liberal as they can and support many issues that are big spending issues.

Nothing new here, with Blodget supporting Urdahl.

I know Mr. Watts to be a courteous, charitable and knowledgable person who just wants to cut the waste at the courthouse. Rumor has it that Globe writers have tried for years to smear his good name. I wish Mr. Watts the best in whatever course he taking and hope the public can get to know the good he is doing in Mason City.

Go Chris!!
Time to get rid of another career politician.
Phil, you’re a nice guy, but you’ve been there to long also.
