SAN DIEGO — Seven Marines were killed in the collision of two helicopters during a training exercise at a base near Yuma, Ariz., the Marine Corps announced Thursday.
An AH-1W Cobra and UH-1Y Huey collided about 8 p.m. Wednesday in a remote part of the Yuma Training Range Complex, officials said.
The two choppers were part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.
The incident is under investigation, the Marine Corps said.
The victims’ names were being withheld until their families could be notified.
