Mason City marijuana dealer sentenced to 10 years in prison

MASON CITY – 23-year-old Mackenzie Everett Servantez has spent more than a year in Cerro Gordo County jail following his arrest on February 10th of 2011 awaiting court proceedings in his numerous marijuana dealing cases.

A sheriff’s deputy in an unmarked police vehicle had attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Servantez in the parking lot of local business in the 500 block of South President Avenue last year.

Instead of surrendering, Servantez rammed the police vehicle before leading police on a chase through downtown Mason City before being stopped and detained.

Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s officials had wanted Servantez on three probation violation warrants in relation to two marijuana delivery convictions and a theft of lottery tickets conviction.

When deputies detained Servantez they found he had more reason then the warrants to avoid law enforcement. Servantez had in his possession methamphetamine and marijuana.

In addition to the probation violation warrants he was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana for a third time and possession of methamphetamine.

On Monday, February 20th, District Court Judge Christopher C. Foy sentenced Mackenzie Servantez to five years in prison for the possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, and an additional two years in prison to be served concurrently on the possession of methamphetamine. The fines were suspended in the convictions and Servantez will be responsible for $375.00 in court costs and surcharges.

On the probation violation proceedings Judge Foy sentenced Servantez to five year sentences in each of the previous delivery of marijuana convictions and an additional five years in prison for the theft of lottery tickets conviction.

Judge Foy then ordered the three five year probation violation sentences to be served concurrently with each other, but consecutive to the five year and two year sentences in the new convictions for a total sentence not to exceed ten years in prison.

Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Inmate Population Report lists Mackenzie Servantez as awaiting transport to prison.
