MASON CITY, Iowa – Trojan defenseman Simon Brown signed a national letter of intent to play at Ashford University in Clinton beginning in the fall.
Brown, a native of Dublin, Ireland, had six assists in 34 games during his two years at NIACC. He had four assists this past season and was named 1st-Team Academic All-Region.
“Simon has been a massive contribution to NIACC and NIACC soccer over the last two years,” said Coach Mike Regan. “The last two seasons have been very successful and I’m pleased Simon has been a part of this. He has earned the right to play amongst the best players at the NAIA level.
“He is a strong character in the locker room, a top-student athlete, represents himself extremely well, and always worked extremely hard in a NIACC Soccer shirt.”
Ashford, a NAIA school in Clinton, Iowa, finished last season 14-5-1 and third in the nine-team Midwest Collegiate Conference at 6-2 (MCC). The Saints were ranked as high as 22nd in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America polls, and went 4-3 against ranked-teams.
Brown will join former Trojan Jason Greenwood at Ashford. Greenwood was a junior defenseman this past season.
