CRESTON, Iowa – The NIACC men’s basketball team could not overcome foul troubles and a 48-30 halftime deficit in a 90-77 loss to Southwestern on Wednesday night.
NIACC (13-12, 4-5 in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference) put the Spartans on the line 41 times while committing 32 fouls in the game. League-leading scorer Marquealis Edwards scored 27 points for the Spartans. Devin Kastrup and Delby Halcomb both added 18 for Southwestern.
NIACC was led by Chris Davis (Fr., Colorado Springs, CO) with 17 points. Chris Throne (So., Lake Mills, IA) was second for the Trojans in scoring with 15, and Nathan Brandt (Fr., Burlington, WI) was third with 10.
NIACC will play host to Clinton Community College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
