Three time Beje Clark escapee set to be returned

MASON CITY – A violent criminal who had escaped from Beje Clark a third time on December 23rd is set to return after serving a 58 day sentence in county jail.

32-year-old Willie York is serving a 20-year sentence for robbery and terrorism in a 1999 shooting incident in the 900 block of North Federal in Mason City. In the incident, York was found guilty of firing multiple shots into an occupied apartment’s window. Court records show an attempted murder charge in the incident was dismissed.

Law enforcement had been searching for York since Dec 23rd 2011 when he had been allowed to leave Beje Clark on furlough to search for a job and never returned.

Mason City Police apprehended York after a brief foot pursuit on January 21st after finding him hiding out in apartment 3 at 114 5 Street NE in Mason City.

On Tuesday, January 7th, District Associate Judge Gregg Rosenbladt sentenced York to 58 days in jail on a negotiated voluntary plea of guilty to a serious misdemeanor count of voluntary absence escape. York must serve an additional 7 days at the same time for interference with official acts during his arrest.

York could have received up to a year in prison on the misdemeanor charge or even been charged with a felony count of, escape of a felon, which carries up to five years in prison. The Department of Corrections has not filed a parole violation report on him at this time according to court records.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Jail Inmate Population Report he is scheduled to end his sentence on 3-13-2012 after receiving a good time reduction. A Beje Clark hold indicates he must be returned to the Beje Clark facility.

In York’s 1st escape from Beje Clark in 2008, which lasted for 28 days, only resulted in a 45 day jail sentence.

Court records show York was on the run six months in his last escape from Beje Clark in 2010 and received 180 days in prison for that conviction. Following the sentence he was sent back to Beje Clark by the Iowa Department of Corrections.

And another POS

MISERY,,

Having raised a demolition team (I had 4 kids) who all turned out to be productive adults. None got pregnant, none gave me any lip service, none got into drugs, and none ever had a any run in with the law.

With that said, it twasn’t easy. There were lots of mistakes in judgement while trying to do the right thing. I learned early on that talking and discussing things did not always produce the best result. It would have been the easiest way, but the kids would put a wall up and I could tell they just couldn’t hear.

Soooo, I just let them fail and made them suffer the consequences. None of them liked that and when they complained to me I refused to suffer their misery. They quickly changed their own behaviour because they didn’t like the misery.

I admit, I sometimes added to and exacerbated their misery.. None got a spanking after they were 3 to 4 but they all feared me and gave me respect. Now they all love me and I can’t get away from them. Just kidding here, my kids talk to me daily and we see each other quite often.

MY POINT HERE IS THIS:

Our penal system does not work because going to jail or prison only marks time for the knuckle-dragger.

Going to Jail or Prison should be a miserable experience. Something you would not ever want to go back and do again.

Today when you are in jail or prison you can get drugs, sex, or anything else you want. You have rights and all the power you had while walking the streets.

You get the picture here. Our penal system is worthless!

MAKE THESE FOLKS MISERABLE AND MOST WON’T RETURN. Nothing should be off the table in order to make them miserable.

Agree, but there are too many attorneys out there to let this happen. Our troops overseas have worse living conditions than our criminals in jail, pretty sad.

I will not represent this person in any case!

Wth, i think mcpd and the court system should be overhauled. Why is this guy getting another shot at an escape. So stupid. Thank god i no longer live in mason shi!@$….

What does MCPD have to do with it they keep arresting the guy and he keeps escaping or getting out. I’m sure they aren’t real happy with the outcome either. York just keeps creating more work for them.

This is absolutely ridiculous!! My husband was in BEJE for something minor…and the rules there were crazy. He got in trouble for the stupidest things. I understand the need for halfway houses…but this guy is not a minor criminal. He needs to be put in prison for this…and all the other things he has done. I don’t understand the court systems…one person gets shafted for something minor…but the person with a felony gets off scott free?? What the hell are we doing in this country??

BeGe Clark is a cankerous sore on the ass of this town. This judge is a pile of trash. And York should sit in prison for the rest of his miserable existence. He obviously will never be rehabilited and cannot be trusted in society.

I saw this guy masturbating in the woods behind beejee. Hes good!

Judge Rosenbladt seems to have a pattern forming here…. His record of NOT applying standard sentencing for criminals such as Willie York is becoming the norm for him. The point is…. if you do a crime in Mason City…. request Rosenbladt for a judge… you’ll get a slap on the hand!

Yeah lets just keep sending him back. Maybe this time he will escape for good. Really? U try escaping once and you should be sent to prison no if or buts about it.
