MASON CITY – North Iowa Corridor / EDC Director Brent Willett told the city council Tuesday night that he is “tired” of the “overwhelming consensus” in the community regarding city council member Scott Tornquist’s performance as a North Iowa Landfill Board member. Some have said Tornquist alienated the board earlier this month when he lectured its members on the importance of OK’ing a long-term contract with a company called ERS.
“I take umbrage with that,” Willett said. “I’m tired of him being attacked for his approach.”
Tornquist only said one word at the deciding meeting, “yes.” The contract was defeated by the board.

I can remmember when Tornquist tried his best to break union rights, and he lost that battle, you would think he would have got the message by now.
There is one organization that should have been on point with this project from the begining. When all the information is known, it is the LNI that CES should have been dealing with not the EDC or Mason City Council.
In light of Tornquists behavior, performance, and the resulting feelings of the North Iowa Community, I would welcome his resignation from the board. I do not believe he has the good sense to do this, and would willingly sign a petition for his removal. How many signitures does it take to move a Council to action. How many signitures does it take for these out of towner, carpetbaggers to realize They still don’t get it? The huge divide between the stammering rhetoric of the BWTT* heads and the needs and desires of long time Mason City citizens is at it’s widest in years.

This guys got one hell of temper for someone who’s last job was in fairfield iowa-maharishi university. Mr. Willett is under a lot of pressure to perform, and so far all he’s delivered is hundreds of umm’s and ahhh’s, while pissing off most everyone.
This is the second time willet has gone off on the citizens who are in his way, the first time was at the zba meeting (hoodwinked) you can tell when hes lying first his ears get really red then his face gets red blotches.

Tornquist did this project no good by going on the offensive and acting like he was smarter and better then everyone else, but the blame for this project failing should be placed on Willet, Bookmeyer and Trout they acted like they new more then anyone else and didn’t take the concerns of the public for health and safety seriously. They all need to be reminded that they work for all the citizens of Mason City not just a select few.

People are starting to take notice and starting to speak out. The days of unregulated spending of city money are over. You have been put on notice!!!!! The eyes of people of mason city are watching. We will speak out if we think what u doing is wrong it is our right. Dont like it? Move. We do have the power to recall. Its about time we put our foot down and said enough is enough. Start acting like elected officials and representatives of this town as a whole. Not like bullys and little kids. Time for you to realize you work for us!!! Not the other way around. Mr. Willett should be barred from speaking in public. If was smart he’d make it voluntary.
This city has been taken over by a bunch of under- qualified yes men and is being quickly driven off a cliff. A recall election might be in order if these inside deals and onerous “pressure to approve” tactics don’t cease at once. The citizens are watching, and thankfully NIT is proving the information they need at this time.
Both, Willet and Tornquist have more vocabulary than brains.

I was t the meeting. What Matt didn’t tell you was that Willett got up to speak after Sandy Servantez and he was looking at Sandy during most of his comments. Willett is just a young kid who really needs to remember that just because you think something doesn’t mean you need to say it. He should have kept his mouth shut. Now it looks like he was just picking on Sandy.

Just watched the video of Mr. Willett protecting Mr. Tornquists job performance representing Mason City at the North Iowa Land Fill board meetings.
How much does this fellow Willett get paid? If he can’t speak any better then this we are in deep trouble. He couldn’t impress a snowball.
