City council unanimously approves Flynn to ZBA Board

by Matt Marquardt –

MASON CITY – The Mason City Council met Tuesday night and approved 6-0 Mayor Eric Bookmeyer’s appointment of Anne Jones Flynn to the Zoning Board of Adjustment for a 5 year term, replacing a vacant position.

Mrs. Flynn stated on her application “volunteerism is simply part of what I do to give back” and that being appointed to the ZBA board “seems like a logical next step.”

It also says on her application that Mrs. Flynn is currently a “Vice President and Trust Officer,” has been a Wright on the Park Finance Committee member and lives in the Eastbrooke neighborhood.

Nearly all the spots on the boards and commissions are voluntary, and they receive zero in compensation. Thats why its called “giving back”. In addition, the state has mandated gender balance on all boards and commissions.

Thank you for posting a link to the application! Maybe some of these people with all the answers can apply for positions and make this a better place to live! I wont hold my breath on the applications but I can always dream!!!

Probably, just another airhead.

Really educated comment! Consider the source I guess!

Glad to see he finally appointed someone. This position has been empty for 4 years…

Don’t worry we get it. We see it all. Not going to matter though. You’ll see.

Mrs. Flynn stated on her application “volunteerism is simply part of what I do to give back”

DOES THAT MEAN SHE WILL WORTK FOR FREE OR WANT $100K A YEAR?

Is anyone else noticing anything eerily similar with bookee’s appointments?

The state has mandated gender balancing on boards. So, that is the only thing I see here.
