MASON CITY – According to the Mason City Police Department, on February 2nd, 2012, at about 8:30 p.m., a citizen left their unlocked pickup parked in the fire lane at ShopKo with the engine running. Â The truck was reported stolen when the person exited the store at 8:40 p.m. Â The truck, a lighter green 1998 Chevy S10, license plates 228XZA was then entered as stolen by our department. Â The truck has since been located by the MCPD.
This morning, 1st Citizen’s Bank, located at 33 East State Street, reported a bank robbery. Â The male suspect walked in and demanded money and left in a teal or green pick-up truck. Â No one was harmed in the incident.
The stolen truck and robbery may be related. Â Anyone with information on this incident should call the Mason City Police Department at 641 421-3636.
@ Observer…..don’t look so deep into what I said & twist words. Simply stated, steal a truck & rob a bank, never be in trouble. Run 5 mins late to work & go a tad over 25 & be stopped, searched & fined. If you look that much into what people say, you should seek some help. Buh bye!
How did the police find it? Did someone park it at the bottom of the 12th street overpass where they sit at 7am & 5 pm waiting for working people to speed by 5 miles over?? MCPD is a damn joke. Bye bye robber & have fun with your money, they’ll never find you unless you are a good citizen.
Jenna, are you asking the Police Department to ignore certain laws just to please you? If you are, there will be a conflict, because I want them out there on traffic duty both at the 12th St. NW overpass and at Federal and Highway 122.
Or maybe you don’t like the law, and think you are above it? I have a suggestion, go to the next City Council meeting, and suggest to them our police stop enforcing laws you don’t like. You can be like Peter Logios, who wants drugs legalized and most laws eliminated. Or you can be like others who believe there are real laws and fake laws (no one has yet to answer me as to how to discern between the two).
Tired of lazy people. At Target they drive right up on the sidewalk and park. Can’t be bothered to walk 50 feet.
Gee wonder why it was stolen? Parked in fire lane, unlocked and running. Some people are just too lazy to park in the lot and walk a few feet to the store.
Good, I’m glad the truck was stolen. I’m tired of seeing all the people who park in the designated fire lanes like the space is their own personal parking area.
Maybe ShopKo had the vechicle towed. 😉
