MASON CITY – The Mason City Mohawk Hockey Club showed a lot of fight Thursday night as they took on the Waterloo Warriors at the North Iowa Ice Arena.
The varsity Mohawks started strong but fell behind 5-2 in the second period with goals made by Cody Maulsby and Alex Ritzert.
Assistant Coach Cole Despenas told NorthIowaToday.com, “They’ve been playing really well. They’ve let in a few goals, but they’ve been playing really hard. This is their best game of the year. We have seven (games) left, we want to keep it going into those games.”
Left Wing Forward Charlie Johnson agreed, “Our goalie is doing really well. We just need more shots”, he said.
The Mohawks fell 7-3 despite the Warrior’s head coach and a player being pulled out of the game at the end of the last period.
Mohawk Junior Varsity had a tie game 1-1.
