Osage man leads police on high speed chase

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – Shortly after 11:30 Friday night, January 27, 2012, a member of the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department attempted to make a traffic contact north of Rock Falls at the intersection of Vine and 310th Street with a red 1996 Saturn driven by 21-year-old Joshua Allen Skuster.

Instead of pulling over Skuster allegedly attempted to elude law enforcement on gravel roads at speeds in access of 100 miles per hour at times.

The chase lasted twenty miles across two counties as members of the Iowa State Patrol, Mitchell County Sheriff’s Department, and Osage Police joined the pursuit before it was ending near the Fox River Mills plant in Osage.

Skuster was arrested and transported from the scene to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Law enforcement has charged him with an aggravated misdemeanor count of eluding a law enforcement vehicle, an aggravated misdemeanor count of driving while barred, and four simple misdemeanor counts of driving while suspended, no proof of insurance, failure to obey stop or yield signs, and load unauthorized muffler.

Skuster is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $4,000 cash or surety bond pending further court proceedings on February 3rd at 8:30am.

According to online records this is Skuster’s third arrest since Christmas Eve. He is currently awaiting court proceedings in Mitchell County following an alleged domestic abuse assault incident on Christmas Eve. Skuster was then arrested again in Cerro Gordo County for another alleged domestic abuse assault incident on December 30th.
