Computer guy earns expert status

Hampton, Iowa – January 25, 2012 – The Computer Guy, from Hampton, Iowa, announced today that its commitment to quality service and professionalism has been recognized by the leading trade association for the world’s information technology (IT) industry.

The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) has designated The Computer Guy as a CompTIA A+ Authorized Service Center™ and currently, the only computer repair shop in the state in the State Of Iowa.

“Designation as a CompTIA A+ Authorized Service Center is validation that a computer service center has achieved the technology industry’s highest recognized level of competence,” said Richard Rysiewicz, Senior Dir., Services, at CompTIA. “It is a strong sign that the professionals of The Computer Guy take pride in their work and are committed to advancing the quality of their operations and service.”

The CompTIA Authorized Service Center™ program recognizes computer, network, server printer and document imaging support businesses that employ certified technicians. These certifications are recognized around the world and throughout the IT industry as the foundation-level skills standards for technology professionals.

To achieve status as a CompTIA A+ Authorized Service Center, at least 50 percent of the service center’s technical staff must be CompTIA A+ certified. CompTIA A+ certification is the IT industry’s recognized skills benchmark for entry into a technology career. Earning CompTIA A+ certification demonstrates a technician has a broad base of knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance, and basic networking.  The Computer Guy has two full time CompTIA A+ Certified employees, Patrick Palmer and Kirt Snook.

For all of you saying that achieving the A+ is small beans, you need to relook the article. This isn’t about Pat receiving the A+ cert but becoming a CompTIA A+ Authorized Service Center which, “is validation that a computer service center has achieved the technology industry’s highest recognized level of competence,” and that quote came from a Senior Director at COMPTIA. It just means 50% of his technical employees are A+ certified and that is a lot better than the 16 year olds they hire at the Geek Squad. Read the article

If you really wanna see what he thinks of his customers, take a look at the invoice he made at 1:28:

Those that wish to criticize his credentials in “computers” are welcome to share their real name and their own “credentials” in computers on this free forum… that is if you know how to cut and paste. Kudos to those that run a legit and honest small business in this day of corporate disgrace.

Pat he fix my computer good. Run fast now.

Pat is the MAN! Well, he’s The Computer Guy. He has saved several of our family computers from the brink of disasters. Pat goes beyond his job. Once, I was not satisfied with a vendor and in negotiating with them repairs over the phone, Pat was texting me on what I needed to do and behold, the vendor fixed the problems due to a defect under the warranty. If Pat wasn’t there supporting me in text messages, the vendor would have hung me out to dry saying the problems were not covered by warranty. Pat is truly there to help us, the LITTLE guys!

Thanks for all the kind words… It’s a pleasure serving you.

Our shop is not only CompTIA A+ ASC Certified, we are also certified with many lines of computers, TVs and other devices. To a lot of the vendors my company does business with, it makes a big difference on whether or not we get some special projects. To our local customers, it shows a level of committment that I am willing to make to them to provide the best service possible.

Congratulations Pat! Nice to see NIT recognize one of the FEW talented and trustworthy computer repair professionals in north Iowa.

Dear Mr. A + since ’98 why dont you congrats someone for doing something to improve their life and or business instead of hiding behind some alias?

If you look again, you will see that I did give congratulations.

An entry level certification does not an expert make. Congratulations on the CompTIA recognition though.

Sorry, but in this age why would only one computer shop in all of Iowa be A+ certified? Because only one person believes A+ certification has any weight at all.

Being A+ certified in the REAL I.T. world is, as their own web-site says, “entry level” – which means lowest on the ladder… easiest to pass tests.

PT Barnum said it first, “There’s a sucker born every minute.”

Very Good Pat. Miss seein you around

Congrats Pat

PAT IS A GREAT GUY…. FIXED MY COMPUTER AND WAS FAIR PRICE

You too can be an “expert” for the right price.

No offense, but A+ is not that impressive. It’s mostly a program designed to collect exam fees.
