MASON CITY – On Monday, 33-year-old Chad Donald Wood of Mason City was sentenced to prison after a voluntary negotiated guilty plea to one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and a probation violation in a felony 2nd degree theft conviction.
Wood had been arrested along with fourteen other defendants in July of this year as part of an investigation by the North Iowa Drug Task Force.
The charge stems from Wood’s illegal delivery of the methamphetamine on November 10th, 2010 during investigation conducted by the North Iowa Drug Task Force.
Court records show Wood entered a voluntary negotiated guilty plea on December 6th, 2011.
On Monday, January 23rd, Wood was sentenced in Cerro Gordo County District Court by Judge Colleen Wieland to serve up to ten years prison for methamphetamine distribution.
Judge Colleen Weiland also imposed a suspended five year prison sentence to run concurrently. Wood had received the original suspended sentence in a felony 2nd degree theft case. Court records show Wood still owes the victim in that case $6120 for the property he stole and Mr. Money $95 where some of the property was sold.
Chad Wood is currently in the Cerro Gordo County Jail awaiting transport to prison to start his prison sentences.
