Op-ed: Mr. 12-pack and his puppet (by Peter Children)

January 18, 2012

I watched the city council meeting last night, it was like reading a novel where you already knew the ending. Not much fun and none of the back and forth, the give and take of the last council. I predict the viewer ship will drop drastically. Due diligence will be a distant memory.

I listened to the mayor’s state of the city address, to me most of it sounded like dribble from a guy wanting to sell me a siding job. I also saw with my own eyes evidence that copious amounts of beer will double your bulk between last year’s empty promises and this year’s.

Next came Willett, a guy who speaks in short sound bites, pauses long enough between sentences to see if people are buying into what he’s saying, then moves onward, safe in knowing Max Weaver is not in the seat near the podium to bring forth the truth meter.

If there was a behavioral expert in the audience they would have had sufficient grounds to arrest both Mr. 12-pack and his puppet that sniffs out projects for people he likes, on grounds of extreme exaggeration. One of the advantages of this new council is that you can miss several sessions and be safe in the knowledge of knowing you really didn’t miss anything.

The Globe, continuing on the path of predictability, sprinkled powdered sugar on everything that was said or implied or might of been merely an unspoken thought…

bookmeyer and solberg chewing gum… what a class act.bimbos!!!!!!!!!

At least they don’t look like they fell off the turnip wagon pulling through town. :))

The gum covers up the 12 pack before the meeting.

Listen closely to what Ann Hardy says on the tape now featured…listen carefully.

I did, and I have a page full of notes. Funny for someone who rails against inaccurate statements, she sure does spew them.

People of Mason City, you got what you voted for, so quit crying, just drop your pants and bend over

Again, I like this comment.

Disrespectful? Man up and take it. Everybody is sick of sappy ass babies who can’t take the tough stuff which is rude. Politics is rude dummy. Decorum so what. Get to it get it done and tell ’em like it is for f sake. Who wants wimpy brats that him haw and go on and on and on. Paleeze

Hmmmmmm… I can’t say it enough around these blogs. That’s just ignorant. In this town BORING equals a plan. An organized plan before hand. The dream team (in their own minds) not really looking into anything. They want what they want period. Mo money mo money for their bank. Disgusting. What am I hearing…ERIC BOOKMEYER doesn’t have a job? Theres your true shame SKIPPER FROM THE GLOBE slamming Weaver about that and not a word about this creep. hmmmmmmm.

Hmmmm, a company thinking about moving to Mason City will find out about CES and run.

Backdoors final comment should have been, and to my six pocket pals free beer and dont worry ill put it on the city credit card.

“..safe in knowing Max Weaver is not in the seat near the podium to bring forth the truth meter.”

Right Peter. You must have failed High School, where they taught Roberts Rules of Order in Student Council Meetings. It bores you now that there is not chaos in the meeting…I bet it does bore you.

When a meeting is run in a professional manner, they can be boring. When Max is free to be as rude and disrespectful as he wants to, he represents a baby with a wet diaper. That embarrasses Mason City as well, when someone like Max is allowed to break all the rules of decorum.

I only imagine that someone from another city, looking into moving a business to Mason City, might tune in and watch a City Council meeting to see how the city is run. Surely a lot of businesses ran for the hills when they were able to see how bad meetings had been run for the last 15 years.

And people like you aplaud bad behavior. Shame on you.

I am sorry, but go back and review the video tapes over the last year, and you will see on more than one occasion, other members violated the 3 D’s.

Years from now, people will constantly look back and blame Councilman Weaver for a myriad of problems, of his making or not. Just as they do President Bush. I find it droll.

I will say this because I know the man, John Lee will vote the way HE is enclined to do. He is a man of courage and backbone. Does not need to vote with the pack to be one of the (in) people

Where were you people who are worried about slander and libel when Skipper relentlessly attacked Weaver? Why did he get a pass with your high moral standards?

Hack away Peter you have got it right. Bunch of hacks sitting there. Liars to say the least.

Another hack job by Peter Children…

My understanding is elected public officials rarely try to sue because there is an extremely high burden of proof on the plaintiff if he is a public figure. Fair or not in some people’s mind you kind of give that up with the territory when you decide to go into public life. So idle threats are just that.

The yellow pages are full of attorneys, there is a reason no one is bring a suit because the truth is hard to go against. Look at a photo of Bookmeyer a year ago and one today, do you really think it would be hard to make a case that he does not drink copious amounts of beer? Do you think collusion does not exist between three people who always vote together without fail? Are you some kind of idiot?

I would say Peter is entitled to his opinion and if you don’t like it, don’t read it. Oersonally, from what I have read I tend to agree with him. It was all pre-arranged and the conclusions were foregone long before the meeting Like I said, you didn’t vote and now you have what you deserve. At least that is my opinion. Like it or not.

BULL crap. Sued are you kidding! Yes jury and fellow attorney we are going to sue because of the TRUTH…Why any mortal can see the whole thing as clear as crystal. Bunch of nothing but screwin Mason City going on there, all because of a little power and money for the pocket.People with real power/money would crack up. I can see the closed door mtgs. all huddled rubbing their hands together. Time will get them ALL. It all comes out. Thank goodness. Let’s not forget about boooring.

More Slander/Libel from Mr. Children & NIT… one day, crap like this will get this site sued off the face of the internet. Deservedly.
