At approximately 11:50 a.m. Friday, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Officers, the Clear Lake Fire Department and two Mason City ambulances were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on CORRECTION: 250th Street and Lark Avenue, just outside Mason City city limits.
A car was northbound on Lark Avenue when it was struck by a Absolute Waste Removal garbage truck traveling east.
“He just didn’t see it,” said Larry Portis, who was at the scene, “It’s hard to see around these corners.”
The couple that were in the car were taken by ambulance to Mason City Mercy Hospital. The passenger who was taken first and the female driver were rescued by the Clear Lake Fire Department. Their airbags were deployed and they were wearing seatbelts.
It was reported that the female did complain about some pain on her lower neck, wrist and knees.
The passenger in the Absolute Waste Removal truck said, “I talked to them both, they seemed okay, just shaken up.”
The driver of the Absolute Waste Removal truck received a ticket.
Miller Towing and Dick’s Place Towing were called to get the vehicles.
