Op-ed: Landfill board not fooled by Tornquist (by Peter Children)

I want to expand briefly concerning my comment on the LNI meeting where the newly appointed Tornquist spoke on the issue of CES.

What you see here, if you view the video provided, will be a familiar sight throughout the coming year as Bookmeyer sends out his lackeys to propagate his agenda.  To say Tornquist’s efforts at the meeting were pathetic would be a compliment. This guy couldn’t sell water to a man dying of thirst.

His performance had to be like drinking sour beer  for Bookmeyer. Bookmeyer might own the council table but there is scant substance sitting there to work with. On a credibly chart Tornquist gets an “F”. He will never be taken seriously at any board meeting, even if he’s the only one on the board. He has a label on his forehead that everyone can easily see and it says “Bookmeyer.”

Tornquist’s first mistake when he sat down was poor judgment, he saw women in calico dresses and guys wearing seed corn caps with farm emblems on their jacket and right away thought he was at a turkey shoot; what he needs to know is these people can read contracts and chew gum at the same time…and they can see right through him. The best thing this lackey could do when attending these meetings is not talk; the minute he opens his mouth he gives himself away. If he’d listen he’d at least learn…I think.

Mason City’s vote represents a third of the total vote I am told.  Hello! He needs more votes  to help push the rest around and that’s like sending a guy with bad breath to the dance, not many want to get that close to him.  Tornquist is to have said that there is only a two week window, when no one reacted should have been his first signal as to the importance his presence generated. He went on to say the CES had a sterling reputation around the state; let me ask you, how do you get a “sterling” reputation when you have no facility up and running? What is this sterling reputation based on?  The way I see it these people came here and sold Bookmeyer on this concept over a case or two of beer.  Then they made the mistake of thinking this entire town had the same IQ as our mayor.  Wrong!
