Huxley, IOWA — Late this afternoon, officials from the Huxley Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation arrested 22 year old Jackie Burkle for the death of her newborn twins. Ms. Burkle has been charged with two counts of Murder in the First Degree, a Class A Felony.
The criminal complaint filed in Story County says Burkle admitted to law enforcement that she acted to terminate the lives of both newborn infants.
On Saturday, January 7, 2012 the Huxley Police Department received a phone call in reference to a welfare check on a 22 year old female, who has since been identified as Jackie Burkle. The Huxley PD responded to 514 North Main Ave, Apt. B, in Huxley and learned that Burkle had given birth at her residence to twin girls. The twin girls did not survive and their bodies were recovered from the trunk of Burkle’s vehicle which was parked in the driveway. Burkle was taken to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.
Autopsies of the twin girls were conducted yesterday, January 9, 2012, by the State Medical Examiner’s Office. The results of the autopsies are pending laboratory results which may take 4-6 weeks.
These deaths remain under investigation by the Huxley Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

This is shocking and disgusting. America has a deep problem with its psyche’. How can we not be sure that somehow Casey Anthony inspired this troubled woman to do what she did? Warped minds. Zero values. I think a school of philosophical ethics needs to arise, to instruct people on the virtues and value of life once again…because clearly this nihilistic death culture has lost its way. As far as the woman goes…this qualifies as First Degree Murder, and under Iowa law, she will spend the rest of her life in prison. But I’m sure that’s what she wanted when she did the horrible act. So it’s time to just fulfill her destiny. And I won’t be hearing any arguments for Post Partum Stress Disorder either at this time.
Peter I agree!!!! Casey Anthony being let go has caused too many mother’s to think they can do the same. There is NO EXCUSE for harming your child, mental problems are no excuse either.
if she didn’t want those little girls, she should have kept her legs closed instead of getting pregnant.
I hope she burns in hell! U know how terribly my husband and I want a child then there’s people like her who just blantantly kill their children bc they’re too irresponsible!! MAKES ME SICK!!!
I know what you are saying!!! We have dear friends who WANT babies and then there are people who intentionally hurt their own babies…SOOO SICK!!!
people need to learn right from wrong early on. Once again we see innocent babies paying a price for irresponsible people. And the fact that people choose to do this an plan it out is sick
